Default M3 or 350z

Hi guys...

I'm thinking of trading my 03' 350z to an 01' m3.. both cars with same mileage.

I have been checking some forums and debates... and vids on youtube,
and it seems like they are pretty equal... M3 more comfortable, 350z more track car

I just got bored with my Z (don't get me wrong I love my baby, I'm only working for her future (true)) I think maybe because I got the heavy Volk Gt-S 19" It got a lot slower or maybe I just got used to the acceleration..

however I'm going to visit the m3 today.. so I thougt I could need some advice from you fellas that might have som more experience in this case..

I think because you've gotten used to the acceleration, you've become bored.

I'll tell you something right now though, I live on LI and travel into manhattan...people have BMW's everywhere, but I have gotten stopped more times and more girls stare at me than the guys with the S4's and M3's because THEY'RE DIFFERENT! Nobody has them!

And, that's the beauty of the 350z...I just wish the damned door hinges were better hahaha

I had an M3. It was amazing but not the head turner that the Z is UNLESS you get Laguna Seca blue or Gold Pheonix. These colors really spice up the M3. I'd rather have the M3 over my Z. I just couldn't afford it.

I wouldnt trade backwards in years. If I am buying an M3 I would get the newer styled one.

i think everyone get's used to the acceleration; driving the 350z after using my wife's honda fit puts the smile back on my face though.

Got no problem with M3's they're nice... I'll envy your backseats.

M3 not an 01 though. Why trade a car in for an older one doesnt make sense. I would get a newer one. The car will be out of warrantee so save up for the maintenance. 01 wasnt a good year at all

I used to have a silver 01 M. Nice car but you will hate life as soon as you get the bill for the first repair, and they happen quite often. A couple years of ownership and you could have bought another Z in the M's repair costs alone. Anyone who buys one without a warranty is setting themselves up for disaster.

Thank you all for your opinions,
I went out to try this M3 today...
It's a waaaaaay different car than the Z.
He told me he had a Mbox or something so the M had 366hp I don't now how true that is?
It was so comfortable, but I was missing the Wildness that I have in my Z.
I could'nt feel it was faster.
so I'm not sure about this...

+1. Even if it has low mileage, it is still a M3 that is almost 10 years old. Upkeep on a BMW is not cheap. Trust me

I would go for the M3, nissan/infiniti is not and will never be in the same league as BMW in terms of quality, feel, and overall performance. 01 is not a very good year for the M3 though. Will it be faster? most likely. Regardless of what anyone says, the E46 M3 is a low to mid 13's car. Even a driver on my370 said he was surprised, but stock for stock the M3 was a bit faster. I know for a fact that one driver pulled off 12.727 @ 107.42 on a bone stock E46 @ englishtown. After owning a fleet of older BMWs and getting my G new in 07, i have to say that i would never buy another nissan product

If you can afford to maintain an M3 out of warranty, go for it!!! Or get a used 335i under warranty.

+1K..I love Bimmers but the upkeep is $$$. I would look for a newer one that still has the $0 cost maint & warranty from BMW. Just my thoughts.

We all understand that the M3 is in fact a quicker car. First off the sticker price on them was in the 50's and 60's. So take that into effect. Now with the expensive inspections, valve adjustments, maintenance, and lack of performance for a $50-$60k do you really think it's worth 30k more than a Z? To me the M3 is a gorgeous car in fit and finish but in that price range would much rather have a Porsche.

To the OP I'd suggest you get what your pockets can handle. To me it seems like your budget is >15k. So I'd suggest you save your money up and buy a Z under warranty for a few thousand more.

I also own a 2008 335I E90 (4 door) and yes my Bimmer is faster then my NISMO, however I took it in for services and found out the warranty expired and it was over $400. Like I said, the upkeep is nuts. If you want a BIMMER, go for a low mileage 335I. They are about even with the E46 M3 out of the box and they are a lot cheaper to mod. With just a tune, a 335I will smoke the M3!
