[350Z Trivia Challenge Game]
Okay, new game. This one is tougher. Here are the rules:
1. A member asks a question relative to the 350z.
2. The first person who answers correctly is allowed to ask the next trivia question relative to the 350z.
However, before the the next question can be asked, the person who first asked the question, must confirm that the answer is correct.
3. Only one question may be asked at a time and extraneous questions should be ignored. (No jumping in and asking questions before you correctly answer a prior question).
4. Anyone may participate in trying to answer the question but only the first person confirmed correct by the orginal inquisitor may continue with the next question.
5. The person who asks a question, should make an effort to monitor answers in a reasonably timely fashion (24 hours) so as not to hold up the game.
6. Disputes as to the answer are to be resolved by the person who asked the question.
So then, I'll start:
Q: The FM platform is the brainchild of this person who worked on Nissan's IMSA and Le Mans prototypes in the early nineties, who then headed up a staff of internals dedicated to resurrecting the Z after its premature demise in 1996.
This individual discovered that an extremely stiff "flat-floor-drive" platform would eliminate handling variables and allow drivers to race without distractions. This person found that if drivers didn't have to worry about the structure twisting, they could focus their mental powers on looking for the apex.
What is this persons name?

Good question, but I disagree that the demise of the 300ZX was premature in 1996.

OK here goes:
Question 2:
When a near-production-ready Fairlady Z was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, 2001 (and subsequent shows in the U.S.)- it featured a mix of options from what would later define the various U.S. models of the car - ie- track model brakes, touring model seats, and performance model wheels. The car was also painted with special silver showcar paint and finished wheels.
Aside from options from the various models on a single car and the showcar finish, name THREE noticable differences between the car shown at Tokyo and the versions that went into production.

1. The Rear wiper was a different style.
2. The wheels were polished not painted silver.
3. The center gauges light up green not amber.

Nice try, but no cigar!
1. This wasn't one of the ones that I was thinking of - the pictures I have aren't really conclusive - I'd maybe give you half a point on that one, unless you've got a good photo to prove it.
2. Check the question again - I clearly stated that the paint AND wheels were different- I'm looking for other variations.
3. I've got pictures that prove the lights were amber. Only the car in Nissandriven.Com 360 panorama movie had green lights.

not sure about number 3, but maybe its what you are going for.
1. Michelin Pilots
2. No antenna
3. Tokyo car had the white side markers under the side badge?, (actually, the side badge was missing in LA)

Here is a pic of a different rear wiper. You can clearly tell that the wiper is different.

I'm not certain if those guages belong to the actual car that was shown in Tokyo- in the pics I have, it's also kinda hard to tell -
What exactly is different about the wiper ?

Well I didn't post a really good picture of the wiper but if you look real hard you can see the shape of the wiper are is solid. It dosen't have any openings near the blade itself. I really can't explain it very well. I will try to find a better picture of it.

1. YES. (not one of the ones I was thinking of, but you're right..)
2. The Tokyo car did have an antenna. (I'll post pics when we're done...)
3. Good answer, but not what I was looking for- This item didn't appear on U.S. cars b/c they are not required by law, not because of concept changes. Of course I can't say that you're wrong.
Well you got 1.5 points- but the three I'm looking for are really more obvious than the above, so I'd like to keep this question going...

Oh- OK, now I see what you're talking about. Good catch! We're still missing a few things though...

ethan84ae...
I'm not sure what you are looking for specifically, but I have compared many pics of the silver show car to the current production and I wouldn't call any differences obvious.
On the otherhand, if you meant the LeMans Sunset preproduction car I could name quite a few that are obvious.
Sounds like people are really digging and not hitting on what you're looking for...

throw us a friggin' bone already...
