Problem is, the Base and some Enthusiast models are becoming affordable for young people.
IMO, going on 25, he should get a POS beater for a couple of years, learn the rules of the road, and then get something nicer down the road. But I know how young people are... I'm still one of them.

just dont get busted. if u get in an accident or pulled over tell the cop that you just took moms car out to the store.

I bought my Z when I was 20 years old, and it costed me 450 a month for insurance till I turned 21. At 16 years old with a brand new sports car, it's gonna be WAY more than a 100/mo. The only thing I would think you could do financially feasible is to have your folks cover your car. My record was of tickets and I've never had an accident with any of my cars previously and that didn't help one bit. Now at 23 I'm paying ~170/mo with State Farm. But in the last 2 years I've had a 4 pt ticket and a 6 pt ticket as of November - they didn't help my rate used to be ~150.

and that audi a4 was 4 doors, awd and only had 180bhp stock...
NOW...

-first off, no ins co I know of will write a policy for you on your own (being that your 16, you need to be 18 to sign a legally binding contract which is what an ins policy is) and if they will, then you better not ever get into an accident b/c that ins co might be out of business.
-secondly, if your parents are willing to put the car in their name and add it to their policy thats their prerogative, however their ins will likely go up, regardless of whether you have a clean record or not (its based on the higher risk that you present as a low experience driver).
-third, for those of you youngins who's parents are stupid enough to put your car in their name, add it to their policy, but not add you to their policy as the driver of that car, I just hope nothing happens b/c if you do happen to get into an accident and they find out your the driver then that will mean problems not only for yourself, but also for your parents.
IMO, if your kid can't get and pay for his own ins, then thats probably a good indication that maybe they shouldn't be driving their own car. I've seen numerous cases where parents give their kid a car, add it to their policy and don't give it a second thought till some poor guy their kid mowed down is suing them for everything they've got. theres a reason most ins companies won't write an umbrella policy for you if you have an underage dependent living in your household.
