I love my 350Z and my STI. My Z gets better gas mileage and more "nice car" comments from strangers and less attention from the police. And my STI works great when I need a back seat or for fun driving in rain or snow. I like the burn outs and drifting in the Z on dry pavement and the donuts and drifting in the STI in the snow. But lately I have been driving the Z more and I am considering a 370Z next to replace the 350Z.

I've personally encountered haters but I only sense insecurity most of the time. The Z does look nice and gets more attention. Performance wise, they're good enough. STI's /Evo's are faster, but I don't give a **** because someone is always faster than anyone. I'd rather be a fast driver than driving a fast car.
In my books, haters = losers.

I absolutely cannot stand the noise from that engine. However, I ALMOST bought a 2.5RS for snowboarding on Mt. Hood and I drove a Forrester through a river twice a day for a week and was so impressed I nearly bought one of those as well.
I love Subaru, but the STI and the Z aren't even in the same solar system in terms of comparison.

I didn't buy either car because they are fast. I bought them cause I like them. They are very well balanced cars. I have had Subi's in the past and they were darn good cars. In fact my Mom has 2 of them. Just not my cup of tea. If I need to get through snow I use the Jeep not some awd car.

Preferably though, I would just have both.
Previously being an owner of a 2006 STI and currently owning a 2007 Z, I have to say that that from strictly a performance standpoint I really miss the STI. I could push it further and harder without ever leaving my comfort zone. The Z offers excellent performance in it's own right but does not quite instill the same confidence the STI did. As a daily driver the STI is also more economical. I can cart 3-4 people around, have a trunk full of groceries and other gear, and still have a car that would put most others to shame performance wise.
The Z is a close match, but with more limited functionality. I will say, it is quite subjective, but I do agree that the Z is a much "prettier car". In the STI I mostly got looks/thumbs up from people that already knew what it was/could appreciate it (and kids, kids loved that car). The Z on the other hand gets praise from just about everyone, even old ladies (I parked my Z in front of Subway the other day and as this lady was leaving she couldn't help but exclaim what a great looking car it was, hahaha).

I would also love to own both. Mostly because I would like the STi for winter/crappy road conditions because lets face it, the Z in ice and snow isnt very easy to drive. Not to mention chicks dig 2 seaters.
