Slicks on a stock Z would probably break something on the launch.

Are you serious.....that makes me lose a LOT of faith in Nissan if you are.

That said, what are people getting for 60' times on the Z's. I would guess low 2.1's, maybe even 2.0's.

I still don't see how drag radials would break something....unless its the tranny.

Yes you can run better than 2.0 seconds on street tires.

Wow, upper 1.9's and low 2.0's is better than I expected. Best I got outta my BMW was a 2.17, and that was BEATING it.

I'm assuming the guys who have tranny issues are doing things like launching and power shifting?

When I drove the '06 GT, the torque wasn't there like in my '03. Ordered it anyway but let it slide to see what the '07 was going to feel like. Still don't know, since there are no '07 around here yet. And no one has given a real driving comparison (torque/times/etc.) yet. But I still think it will compare to the '06, only with an unattractive hood. No offense to '07 owners. I tend to always like the latest/newest anyway.

Its b/c he was right....honestly it is a drivers race for every year. The newer rev ups have more hp but less tq and also weigh more. Do some research or go to a nissan dealer and test drive a 03-04 vs. the 05-06 rev up. You will find it won't be that different.

Maybe true slicks. However there are lot's of guys with Drag Radials running. I'll bet they are 4.9 0-60mph times @ 15lbs. of air in their tires.

No, you won't break anything... Alot of guys complain more about DR's than SLICKS Because of wheel hop

Does anyone else besides me find this thread completely ridiculous? 0-60 is an imaginary number. The Z is not even close to being designed for digs. IRS? F/R strut braces? Lots of camber? Hello?? If that's your friends thing, there are many other cars better suited to blend him in with the magazine racers.

You can mess up more with dr's and street tires on the launch than with slicks. Too high rpm + a little too much dumping the clutch = $$$

You have an 07. Why not time the 0-60 yourself?

Everyone "in the know" knows that the 04.5 is the quickest of the bunch. There are countless articles on the subject. In fact, Top Gear had five episodes dedicated to this very subject regarding 350Z's and the varying 0-60 times.

This thread is silly...

Its a drivers race, and I doubt a stock Z would do 4.9, but 0-60 is for bench racers not for people that really run their cars. Whoever said a stock Z with slicks would likely break--->wow are you behind I ran slicks NA, with the single turbo and 1 pass so far with my Twin Turbo and over 500whp-still stock axles, no issues with launching. I cut 2.05 60ft bone stock, 1.8's NA and 1.7 with the single turbo slipping the clutch out of the hole not launching hard. For you 0-60 mag racers, if you type in my cars weight, 60ft, and 1/4 time and trap into a 0-60 calculator, the 0-60 time on my 11.98 run was 3.5 seconds. Watch the video if you want to time it
