350z or G35?
I currently own a 2007 NHBP Honda Civic LX, nonetheless, I want a more sporty car, and I just like the coupe's. I have tested out a 350z, but I didn't get to push it to the limits. I haven't been in a G35. So I was just wondering if you guys have opinions as to which one is better? I won't be doing any racing, I just want a fun daily driver that will get a few looks and not be the "Mom" car! I'm undecided on stick or automatic, because I drive about 80 miles a day to work and live in a city, so I'm not sure I want to drive a stick everyday [I had a 96 mustang manual for my first car, and it was a ***** to shift]. Also, my price range is under 15, so newer models are out the window so don't tell me I need the G37, lol. So any opinions would be appreciated!

For 15K good luck finding a decent G35 coupe but a Z is more likely. I've had both and I prefer the Z over the G35 but that's just me. The Z tends to give me more feedback for what is happening on the road but I prefer a bit of a rougher ride. As stated above though, you may want to save a bit more than 15K in order to open up your options.

Both are good cars. You just need to decide which one you prefer. For me, the looks of the Z make it a "no brainer" decision. The G looks ho-hum compared to the Z but performance is about the same. Also, do you need a small back seat? if so, its the G.
You will find a Z for $15 Gs.
Z MT works easily.
Whatever you buy, have a mechanic you pay & trust inspect before buying.

Keep your civic. If you must buy a Z or G , just pick one. Both are great cars, I have no need for back seats, i have a Z.
Stick or auto, thats an easy one, if your a cheerleader or a soccer mom, get the auto. If you have a pair, get the 6mt.

Back when i had my SpecV, i wanted a G35 coupe real bad lol. I even narrowed it down to getting the 03-04 model black on black with the brembos and 18" wheels (not a fan of the 19" rays). After 1yr of saving, i had enough to get one. I drove all the way to Virginia from NC to test drive one with everything i want in it. But at the end of the day, i tried forcing myself to like it but i just wasn't happy with it. It didn't feel sporty enough and the interior was crap for a "luxury" coupe? It was heavy, and the cabin felt cramped. Anyway, one month later i saw a Track model Brickyard Z and knew after test driving it, it's what i want. A TRUE sports car. I bought it for $4k cheaper than the G35 and spent the extra $3k in mods (coilovers, Bassani TD exhaust, etc..)Whoever says the G and Z are the same car is lying. Now everytime i see a G, i tell myself thank god i didn't force myself to buy that car. SH*T, now i don't even think a stock Z looks as good anymore (it needs a drop, wheels aren't flush enough blah blah lol). Gs a beautiful cars, but it's no Z. Sorry for the long post

Hi and welcome. The merits of the Z vs. the G have been debated here a few times. The answers you get depend upon which forum you ask this question (i.e., go to the G35/37 section of the Forum and ask the same question).
The two cars are very similar. Ignoring the obvious difference in appearance, these are the features I noticed when deciding which car to purchase (I bought a Z).
As far as MT vs. AT goes… I would pick what you like driving. The Z and G have a lot of torque, so you can run slowly in 2nd or even 3rd in traffic without shifting. Unless it is continual stop-and-go, you can stay in a gear much of the time when “rolling” in traffic. I prefer a MT, but the AT is really a good one in the Z/G.

The two cars are very similar. Ignoring the obvious difference in appearance, these are the features I noticed when deciding which car to purchase (I bought a Z).
- The G35 has a little longer wheelbase which results in a slightly more comfortable ride. The Z’s shorter wheelbase provides marginally better handling.
- The G35’s interior is definitely an upgrade. The seats are plush, and some find these more comfortable.
- The Z’s interior is really noisy. The rear wheel wells are inside the car (coupe model), and you get a lot of road and tire noise inside the passenger compartment.
- There is more sound-deadening in the G35, and the rear wheels wells are outside the car so the G’s interior is quieter.
- If you have an interest in A/V equipment, the Z provides a great platform for installing an elaborate CES (or even a CarPC). The four cubbies (two large and two small) behind the driver and passenger seat along with the upper/forward cubby and the double-din slot allow a plethora of options for creating a great system.
