DAMN, some of you cats are harsh.
I realize those of us from the 30 + crowd had to live a long time with a lot less horse power than what the z offers. Waded through many a **** ride thinking it was bad while nissan jerked off and took there time trying to figure out how to make 300hp a reality.
There isn't 1 single dude or chick on here that wouldn't have had a z car when they were old enough to have had one...

Having said that, the best thing my parents ever did for me was to buy me the biggest POS car they could find. Not only did I learn how to work on cars, it was also way too slow to race (which I still tried to do) and big enough to have sex in.
OP, we're not trying to hate on you. Like everything else in life driving skills come with experience and practice. A 350z is a lot of car for someone who doesn't even have a license yet. All too often teenagers try to prove what "good" drivers they are by driving really bad. I had a friend with a Camaro in high school who almost killed me several times because of that. If I had a Z back then I'd probably have killed myself racing him.
Read the thread about the kid in the SRT4 who killed himself
...and just be careful

Hey Marcus
You are not getting the hate I thought you were going to get as soon as I read your post. These guys are all 100% correct on the aspect of Drive nice and slow. Get used to the car and don't drive like an idiot. If you want to race go race at a track. Spend your money wisely and don't go cheep. Cheep mods=fail.(I'll hear it lol) You will learn a lot here just take it easy. Read the FAQ and also do a lot of research before posting again.

A free mod to do...like my good friend BLANK does. You know who you are after this one. Is wait till a buddy purchases parts, and rob the stickers that come with the parts.
not saying it will make any performance, but it's FREE!!
My theory is dont waste you money on mods like "shift *****"
And no one should be driving a car at the age of 15. Might just be cause i live in NJ and 17yr olds can't drive as well.

Hey guys dont trash on young guys so fast.
Before I say anything, go to your local autocross track or drag stip and get rid of all your go fast feelings. This will not only teach you about the car and how to handle a fast machine, but you will have fun and will have a lot of help from experienced guys (if you ask around). This will also keep you from going fast on the street and avoid speeding tickets and possibly hurting somebody- its much cheaper to pay $20 at the track than a $150 speeding ticket; plus you have to deal with your parents afterwards!)
Second, take care of your car! dont let friends drive it like they stole it! (I am telling you from experience!).
My first car was an s2000 (Put gears, headers, full exhaust, and a tune). I then sold it and bought a Crossfire (intake and exhaust), and now my 350z and a Mr2 Spyder in the future. I am 19 now.
So dont let people tell you that you are going to crash, but dont give them a reason to! (Also, if you talk like "dude" and "wazza!" people are going to assume that you are immature; try avoiding that).
Again, get to know the car before putting any money into a fast machine that you can't even push to the limits as it is. Trust me, as indistructable as you feel, you are not.

i say save your money do some research on which parts will give you the best bang for your buck. Try to learn on how a car works go back to the basics and you'll find ways to make your car quicker. but do your research before you do anything else. and dont worry about these ppl on here talking crap cuz im 19 and i havnt crashed or even gotten a ticket since ive had my car they just have nothing else better to do.

I get this feeling that because my parents bought me my car, you guys don't think I deserve it. I don't think any single one of you would turn a Z down if it were given to you.

No, no, no....the kid's got a point. I bought my first car when I was 17 and in the Navy! Back then, the "Sex" car was either a 300zx (which I later bought as an adult) or the Supra (which is still out of my price range). If someone offered me one or the other at 15...I'd take it. To be honest, I would love to be able to buy my own son a car when he gets his license (he's only 7, so I've some time to save). However, I would NOT buy him a Z or whatever car may replace it as a high performance car. Even if I could, I wouldn't buy him a sports car. I would buy my own son a used, gas saving, 4-door, POS. So, like many others have said, he can learn to work on it and to truly know the feeling of really wanting a car; working hard and saving for it; and buying it on his own steam. That way, every scratch, ding, etc. he can "feel" as a ding in his pocket and understand how many pennies actually go into a $30k sports car.
Don't fault the kid because folks got him a Z. I say, good for him! Deserve it or not, his folks felt it was right for him and I hope they know him better than we know the "stereotype." It's a helluva car but its not necessarily a "death trap." Kids die just as easily in Civics, etc. But the Z is A LOT of car, being RWD makes it all the more tricky to drive.
