So just in time for the Missouri winter, my Olds bites the dust. Now I must split my daily driving duties between my 05 Z and my 74 Lotus Europa... so the Z will be driven all winter.
Before you all ask... I have no pics at this time. The Lotus (yellow) is in storage right now and will probably stay there for a while.
Also... No I don't have anything in the hole for another car. I just bought a house and my priorities are to it. I'm pretty much doing a full remodel.
On the upside... my Z has a big, sexy garage home!
Wish me luck friends! I must say that the heated seats will rock. The Olds lacked that option.
I think DD the Z during snow and ice is a non-optimal situation. However, Spike100 does it without a problem. The key is that he uses snow tires on narrow wheels. You need to spend the money NOW to get a winter set of wheels and snow tires.
As Spike wrote, use some good tires and you'll be alright.

Lots of cat litter, my friend. I've been told it's good for weighing the car down and if you do get stuck somewhere, pour it under the tires for traction.

I've got the right tires. I know how to drive in this weather I just don't want to expose my Z to the loads and loads of crap that MoDot pours on our roads everytime there's a threat of a snow flake. You'd think that they were preparing for a Minnisota winter. lol
They mix a combo of sand, salt, and some other stuff. It makes all cars grayish white. Looks terrible. I don't think it's as corrosive, though.

putting weight in the back end of a balanced car isn't a good idea. it can turn the car into a pendulum if you do start to lose control, it will become harder to control.
I should have clarified and posted that a few bags wouldn't hurt.
Putting a person in the driver's seat also throws the balance off, but no one ever complains about that.

I just picked up my 03' Enthusiast in time for our lovely Chicago Winter..
I bought some Stock 17's with New Blizzaks for $700, so I think I'll be ok.
The only thing I'm worried about is some idiot rear ending me. Dang..

Going on winter 3 in Idaho Tryin out a new set of Toyo Proxes 4s. Gotta be better than the pole positions...
btw, the blue z looks great in the snow, BAM!
Me too man... BTW whats yer reg plate? I may have seen you around town. Do you head east-bound on Ustick Road in the mornings?
We're lucky here all they use is sand, no salt that i've ever seen. Only drawback is when its dry, the sand is still there...
I dunno about you guys but i've found killing my ABS and letting the front wheels lock gets me shorter stopping distances in the snow. Of course you have to be careful and not keep them locked or things can go wrong.
