Potential new Z owner - looking for advice
Greetings all! I am in the market for a new weekend/project car, as I am looking for something to cut down on how many miles I am racking up on my DD. Have always been lured by the appeal of the 350, and I figure why not now?
I am looking to stay around 14k or under, and have found one that I like and am going to look at tomorrow. It is an 06 Track, 135k with an asking price of 13.5k. Now I understand that this is high mileage for the asking price, however the car does have some mods, and aside from negotiating the price, I wanted to find out if the upgrades it already has would justify the car being near that price range.
From what I can tell in the listing/pics, the car has a Nismo intake and exhaust, has factory 19's and xenon lights, an aftermarket JVC DVD player, and Tein EDFC suspension. The car appears to be clean, minus some wear on the plastic part of the doors where the switches are(simple to replace I'm sure), and some minor curb rash on the wheels, which I would re-surface or replace as I prefer darker wheels, especially on a white car. The car has a clean carfax, only 2 owners.
I have read that the 06's are notorious for oil consumption, which I take care of my cars and would not have a problem with checking the oil regularly. Aside from checking the tranny/clutch while shifting and listening/looking for obvious issues, is there anything else I should be on the lookout for at that mileage?

Thanks for any advice, and I look forward to soon having a Z in my driveway!

Somehow,no matter what advice you get and asked for,you wind up
buying a car because you "just gotta have it"lol.
Maybe you will do the same thing?
The price is too high. You may figure, what the hell,a few grand over
the years I own this car,its lunch money!
I'd look around some more.Is white your fav color?Maybe stay away from
a 06?Look outside your area.A drive to see a car that may be the perfect one
is well worth it.At 14k,you have a budget that should offer a good selection of Z's
for sale.Don't take the mods the owner has on the car as a reason to pay
a higher price.
Good luck!

Too much. I paid 12k for my '06 with 70k on it. Keep looking and remember just because it has mods does not bump the price up. I would use mods to negotiate the price lower.

Looks immaculate for a car with that amount of mileage, the last owner must have taken real good care of it. I suggest talking down the asking price, there's Z's with that mileage going for 8k. Even though it looks to be in perfect condition and it's a track edition, the asking price is still a bit too high.On second thought, that driver side door on the inside looks messed up.

As for the mileage on that car, I'd look for one with a lot less (as in half) the miles, and if you're patient, the right one will come along.

I can tell you from first hand experience that you should be patient. While I love the Z that i have, i rushed and bought the 2nd one I looked at and am now quite disappointed I didn't wait to get one that was a little better. I wish I got one that the previous owner didn't attempt to modify and I wish I got a track model instead of a touring. Just stick it out and get the right one for you.

Too many miles for that price. I was like you and looking for another option than daily driving my 4x4. I had looked and looked and driven at least 5 until the one I had saved in my folder,(but out of my price range at the time). I decided to send him and email. So went drove it and bought it, a 2007 Daytona Blue Ent with 61k., $13.5 . So I do know whats out there in that price range your looking at.
Oddly enough for me when it's a second car I can get real picky so looking for a beauty is half the fun. You also get to learn a lot searching about the car.
Good luck in your search.

I'd pass on that one.Agreeing with everyone else on here, too many miles and too i would stay far far away if it's already modded. People who own Z's an don't know anything tend to go ricer crazy and beat on their car like crazy...you can find a low miles, cheaper one that'll be worth the wait.
