Default Welded dif??

Is it really worth the 300 for a LSD ??? I was thinking about just welding my stock dif
And if the "cherp" is that terrible I'll get a LSD. Any thoughts?? Thanks

What are you using the car for?

A welded diff isn't a replacement for an actual LSD, but if you are just going to drift the car or whatever you don't need a true LSD for that.

You get what you pay for.

Yeah a welded diff will work but actually buying a LSD will yield better results

Ever driven a vehicle with a locker or spool? Sucks for a daily. Especially in snow and ice.

dont be cheap, spend the money and do it right, but my guessing is you dont have the 1200+ for a decent diff

I've driven several 4x4s with welded diffs/spools, and the absolutely sucked on paved surfaces. Even when in sloppier stuff it's constantly a throttle manipulation deal to get the vehicle to steer. I would not recommend doing it to a car. But I don't pay the bills for other people's vehicles.

Ya it's just stock rn. And getting a vlsd just replaces the diff I have right now and will stop the cherping problem ?

Unless you track your car, get neither. Personally, I love my welded diff but I'm also into drifting. Spending 1k for a real LSD just didn't seem worth it when you work at a machine shop and can weld it yourself. Good luck

I've also used welded diffs for road racing and they create a lot of power-on understeer. Not an ideal solution for a powerful RWD car...
