More than likely a total, so the cost will likely be above $8K to repair body, suspension, brake and frame damage. The pics you posted don't reveal the real damage underneath the car.

How much is the salvage yard asking?

Need better pics, really I would need to see it. It could be cheap $1500 and could easily go over $6k. Also depends on how you want it repaired.

Agreed if the frame isn't damaged it could be a good base to start a track car from. Since the parts that appear damaged would like be replaced anyway for the track. Otherwise it's really hard to tell. Looks like someone drove over an open culvert and ripped the front wheel off.

I did something similar to my IS300 I was lucky though and was able to make all the repairs myself.

The damage may not be too severe. The front and rear suspension requires repair/replacement.

It looks as though the car skidded sideways, hit a curb (or slid sideways over an area that finally folded the wheels), and then stressed the suspension (specifically components holding the wheels on the driver’s side).

I don’t see much body damage. That means the geometry of the car is intact.

The repair cost here is replacing damaged suspension components. This is a good time to update the suspension with a killer aftermarket setup.

It would have to be pretty cheap to be worth fixing, could also part it out and make some pretty decent money.

If you don't have any collision experience I would take somebody with you to look at it that does. Best case scenario you have to replace control arms, knuckle etc.. Worst case your frame rails/subframe are screwed. Either way with it sitting on the ground like that I'd complain about the body/paint work needed for that too, if you're trying to buy it. Tow truck drivers/scrap yards don't give two cents about keeping stuff in good condition.
