JWT clutch questions?
Hey guys I tried too look up my issue but could not find any threads too point me in the right direction. Anyways I have 90k on my 2003 Z with its original clutch. I just ordered the JWT clutch with the 13lbs flywheel. Does this clutch require a aftermarket Slave cylinder for proper function and feel? I ordered a new OEM slave cylinder because my original one is probably shot. Also can I leave my master cylinder stock or aftermarket. I want a nice pedal feel, I dont like the full race very stiff feel. I read that jwt makes your slave cylinder fail in some cases, getting mixed reviews
Any help would be appreciated

Did you look in the "Engine & Drivetrain " section, kinda the same place you should have made this post?

what Trav said...you can run an OEM slave/master just fine - I have the JWT clutch and flywheel and I'm very happy with it. The JWT is rather stiff though compared to the OEM. I don't mind it one bit but it did take a few days (and a few stalls) to get used to.
I did come across one issue when I took my block out - I completely stripped out the flywheel threads when I got to ~40 ft-lbs of torque. I had a machinist retap/rethread them and he said at most go to 20 ft-lbs with loctite.
I would also upgrade your slave cylinder control line to a stainless braided version. IPP and Z1 both have them for ~$30 and it replaces the OEM rubber hose - very easy install too.
Lastly, if you are taking the transmission out of the car, you may want to consider swapping your transmission fluid if it hasnt been done. I did this aswell and some of the better aftermarket fluids are about the same price as OEM fluid - I'll let you research for yourself.

Thanks trav and other for the helpful information. The combo package comes with new pivot ball and also with the steel braided clutch line. I have changed my trans fluid too redline about 10k ago. You guys also helped me out on that as well. About the shift fork should I go oem or aftermarket... the JWT isnt a full on race clutch and i don't want a super strong pedal feel.
