$9000 financed and your total payout is going to be $15,000? My god, what is the interest rate and term on that loan? None of my business BUT you did post the info. I know that financing a 12 year old used car is expensive but that sounds like loan shark rates! YIKES.

The original poster seems to have disappeared. He hasn't been on the thread in a few days. I am beginning to think this is just a case of buyers remorse. He was excited about his Z but after a few days he thought about his purchase and wants to return the car. He realized he didn't get the good deal he thought he was getting.

It's a base with extensive damage to the front AND back.

The body lines are way off, and I would there is some frame damage as well.

No one ever really thinks about the total cost of financing which is why everyone finances everything (although truth in lending act requires ti be disclosed these days). I did back up the math and assuming he financed a used car for 5 years (theres a red flag) it's a would be a touch over 22%. Max legal interest rate in OH is 24.9% (nice to know the politicians are keeping the predatory lenders from screwing you eh?) over 4 years is 298 per month and totals a little over 14k over the life of the loan. A sucker who's only concern is the amount of the monthly payment is going to get screwed every time. When buying anything, you negotiate price before terms. In an ideal world we wouldn't finance anything but so many people are so impatient they want it all now.

The interest will kill you. Seriously I bought my z and had no credit and was at 10% which I thought were loan shark rates. Now I have built my credit and see no need for a car payment. Always pay off the loan early.

Then again you should never finance a loan for a 10 year old sports car. especially a z, our values keep dropping at a substantial rate.

Im still here, just been busy trying to sort out through this.

Im returning the car, the price difference was not a big issue with me, was more on the features I needed, especially traction control and lsd. It was more of a safety concern for me getting to work everyday, steep hills and windy roads every way to work, and without those to help I wouldn't chance the drive.

I did take a chance at buying it, had I known it was a base I would not have bought it. I knew it had been put back together or rebuilt, but also didn't know there was a traction control switch, thought with the rebuilt it got some new seats and steering wheel so yeah I was way uneducated with these cars and didn't know so many dealers dont list correct trims with the 350z's.

It is false advertisement on there part, but the trouble wouldnt be worth it. I would have kept the car if it had been a enthusiast, now im downgrading to a Jetta, maybe one day I will get a 350z back.

I do appreciate all the input and advice, I do get pretty up in the moment and don't always notice things until later. That's my fault.

My interest rate was in the lower 20's which that comes with poor credit over the years, so any bank I go through throws a huge interest rate at me, my only option is to use them to up my credit and then refinance down the road.

Taxes are paid to the state, and not subject to being withheld by the dealer. He is trying to charge you a "restocking fee"

Regards Raider89: Before committing, Google "Jetta transmission problems". There were some years that were prone to expensive repairs at about 100k miles.

I was finally able to take the 350z back, piece of junk lol. They did put up a fight and they still will not accept the fact its not an enthusiast model, kept asking if I went to a certified mechanic lol like I needed too..proof was right there. Ended up just getting a 08 jetta with less miles for now.

A couple of thoughts:
#1. Re. the car being mis-identified, this happens a LOT. I've even seen Nissan dealers mis-identify them. That's why you do your homework before you go in.

#2. Re. financing....a young lady (teenager I presume) posted about her new to her 2005 350Z. She had to get her mom to co-sign for the loan...the full $15,000 at 5 years!

I'm glad you got out of the situation with something.

Yes from the same dealer, they didn't list the car like that to try and screw me, there vin actually says enthusiast, they scanned it for me, and I even checked it on a couple vin running sites, some said base, some said enthusiast some said touring.

But yes it was partially my fault for not doing my research on identifying the models.

I had to leave with something, it was either drop the car off and walk out with no money back and no car to be able to get to work, and I would have to put money I don't have into legal fee's and what-not to fight it which could take forever to finally happen.

I found a car with a clean carfax, no wrecks or damage and 2 owners that was a rental vehicle, given not everything is on a carfax but its a good idea.

Im just happy to have a vehicle that isnt pieced together and falsely advertised.

I would have kept it if it was the enthusiast, but atleast everything is good to go, even swap no more junk car.

Although I really did enjoy that 350z !

Yeah I read that, especially on the mkiv's, read on the mkv's and they have much better engines/transmissions and are much easier to work, plus jetta's im pretty familiar with and mechanically inclined with working on them, or anything of that matter, if theres a diy or video im able to accomplish it.

Also if you look on there site mgmimports.com they finally changed it and it doesn't say enthusiast anymore, since yesterday when I went there. Guess my argument worked haha.

Raider,
Lesson learned, sorry. Used car buying is a shark tank the first time. When I bought my first car the sales guy sent me to the loan officer who told me I would be declined if I didn't accept extended warranty. I said "No and no".
Got my keys 20 minutes later. GL

Christ Almighty, you went from a wrecked 350z to an ex rental car VW Jetta! You sure are a glutton for punishment.

I've always seen ex rental car's as a plus, mostly highway miles, updates service records etc etc.

jetta's will last forever .
