hi guys i know there is a thread about repainting brembos, but i need to know if the paint can hold up just like factory one. also, should i sand them down and completely take factory paint off of them? so far i only found Humbrol 54 as the closest to gold brembo color. thanks in advance

I believe the originals were powdercoated. I could be wrong. As far as painting it goes, if you use caliper paint and know how to paint it, it should be fine. I painted mine 3 months ago, did pad bedding. 10 60-0 stops in a row. X2. And its been fine so far.

As far as i can tell, it should hold up fine if done and prep properly.

Did u lightly sand the OG powder and spray over it?

I actually sanded it down to where the clear coats were gone. Then i just sprayed it with the caliper paint with no primer. Light coats and i used 2 cans of paint and 1 can of clear coat

Edit: wash it good and mask it off well. I took my time prepping it

I used the VHT brand. Its rated at 900f so if your brakes gets that hot, the paint bubbling would be the last of your worries.

If you paint your calipers, don't bother unless you powder coat them. Everything else will eventually bubble or crack/chip off.

Because powdercoat doesnt chip... if your using the proper paint and uts bubbling, you have a lot more to worry about than just the paint bubbling. 900f is A LOT of heat. Thats total brake failure before paint bubbling

I would also suggest powder coating them I used caliper paint rated for high temperature and clear coated them it held up for a while wasn't thinking about it when I washed my car and sprayed the calipers and they chipped.

You do realize, there is crap on the road?

I've seen a few street cars with the high temp paint stuff just start coming off.

It's the cheap solution. If that's what you want to do go ahead, but for every car that has held up with "high temp paint" there's probably at least another that didn't hold up.

I would sanblast it, add primer, paint then clearcoat.
