We are driving some of the least practical cars on the road. The only difference between My 2 door 2 seater with 287 hp at the crank and someone else's midlife crisis with 700 hp is purely subjective. Do I want 700 hp? Hell yes. Who wouldn't? Do I need 700 hp? No, but I also don't need a 2 seater sports car.

I like having lots of HP, so when I stop next to a cute girl at a red light, I can pull away as fast as possible.

Justin, not everyone who owns a high powered sports car drives solely on the street. The preponderance of track days open to the public now is a huge business and this is one place where everyone is able to take their "project" to the limit and beyond. Isn't that the whole idea, just to see what limits of engineering you can take your car to?

i test drove a turbo 350z honestly....i am not impressed.......I think I would feel the impact of my wallet getting lighter before feeling impressed with 400 whp/ 400 tq.
before i even humored at the idea of buying a turbo kit I wanted to go in a friends turbo 350z to see how much of a difference it really was before spending the money.
I even test drove a 370z in hawaii and that thing was pathetic. i would not expend another 15k for that car.
if anything, do it yourself - ls2/lq9-Built - t56 + turbo or supercharged..... this is something worthwhile the v8 sounds so much better than a v6. but then again $$$$.

Once you get to the 550hp/tq then that's scary. My buddies gt500 makes 560hp/tq at 2500rpms...it feels like I'm on my gixxer 750

My Turbo 350z(low 300's whp) which runs a high 12 feels much slower than my friend s4 running a 13.3 and my friends stock 2010 wrx which runs a mid 13? The pull is much different from an AWD car.

As for swapping in a v8? Your wallets going to be hurting even more than you think or at least your head will if you can fan the s/c or turbo kit. New front end, the list drags on and on. A clean t56 is a pretty penny. So even if you go with an lq9, the FI and transmission and pain of doing a custom front end, and cost would just suck. For the price you could do a built vq35 a lot easier and make about 600whp
