A couple mod questions...
Ive been doing a lot of reading in the forums lately because I plan on buying a 350z very soon. I live in New Hampshire so I will not be able to use it in the winter. I plan on buying a 350z with slightly higher miles around 70K-80K because it will be cheaper.I will drive this in the summer, then I will buy some beater for the winter. Do 350zs generally last to 150K, ive seen many people's car with high miles.
I have also read that bolt on mods do not really add much hp. I was planning on adding some mods such as intake, exhaust and maybe a few more. I was wondering if it is even worth it, or if i should just spend my money on the suspension.
I have also seen pictures of 350zs with an aftermarket front bumber. The bumber has a small square hole in it. Im assuming this is for cool air to get into the engine. Anyways does this make a noticeable difference in hp?
I would really appreciate any information or suggestions. Thanks!

if maintained properly they can reach a lot more then 150k, as for the mods being worth it, its kind of subjective. if you can afford it then yea but don't expect a noticeable difference from an intake and exhaust, besides of course the sound changes (which is why most people do it anyway)

I have done just about every *type* of engine mod (not all Z cars) but still, getting all that power to the ground to generate that oh-so-wonderful "lateral g" is what it's all about FOR ME.
Just MY opinion, YMMV.

What do you want to do with the car? If you want to autocross the car in a stock class shocks and sway bar, if you want to drag race in a power adder class you want a giant turbo, If you want to commute leave the car stock.

I can't remember the name of the guy who designed the VQ33, but it was designed to cover 200,000 miles with regular maintenance, there are many owners on this forum who have hit that mark and gone well past it. If you bought your car with supporting paperwork you should be fine with regards to the engine.

You can add some hp, but it will cost ya. Depends on how much u want to spend on the car, and how much money you got.
Intake-200
Exhaust-1000
Test pipes 200
Plenum sspacer-200
mrev2 500
Tune 600
Total engine Bolt on mods =$ 2,700. give or take few hundred.
Yea it's totally not worth it, but I love my Z, and I'm slowly building her up. Lol
Our VQ engines are meant to last if taken care of. Its probably one of the best engines out there.

My car is about to hit 70k and my factory exhaust bracket rusted in half. So if your buying a local car you might get too bolt on a new exhaust as a need more then a want. Im in your same boat though I like bolt ons but dont like waisting money and everything I read shows little to no gains. Plus the roads around here are so terrible I barely go over 35 for fear of hitting a pothole and destroying the car.
