Got it, it'd be hard to resist in a C6.
Does it get about the same MPG on the highway as your z?

There truly is no accounting for taste and this thread proves it. I can't imagine that anyone would willingly drive down a highway at say a steady 70 mph for 10 hours and not using cruise control if it's available, but this is apparently true. Therefore, I must conclude that all "men" are not created equal.

The above makes me wonder about potential differences between people when it comes to a vehicles "features". Because we've already gone a bit OT and, more importantly, I'm retired an have lots of time to waste, here is my list of the most important "features" a vehicle can have, starting with the most important. No doubt your list will be different.

1. Frame/chassis w firewall (Something on which to install wheels.)
2. Wheels with rubber tires and "suspension". (Features that will allow vehicle to smoothly roll down the road.)
3. Steering system with steering wheel. (I'm getting too old to constantly get out, lift the front end and "re-direct" the vehicle.)
4. Engine and reversable transmission. (I'm getting too old to use my body to propel and stop the vehicle.)
5. Brake system. (I no longer want to use my feet to stop the vehicle.)
6. Seats. (I don't want to stand or lay down while I'm in the vehicle.)
7. Comfortable seats. (I don't want to sit on a box or a plank.)
8. Windshield. (I don't want to get wet or, even worse, "stoned".)
9. Doors. (I don't want to climb in.)
10. Doors with wondows. (I want to see through the doors.)
11. Roof. (I don't want to have my parade rained on...only the old farts are going to "get" this one.)
12. Healiights. (I want to see where I am going at night, although night-vision goggles may be a more private alternative.)
13. Heater. (I don't want to freeze to death on my way to Canadian Tire in Sept through April....or May.)
14. Cruise control! (I don't want to get a speeding ticket while I'm on my way to Canadian Tire, and I want to be able to walk without a limp when I get there.)
15. Heater that has a fan and uses engine coolant rather than burning wood as a heat source. (I'm too old to chop down trees and split wood.)
16. Power steering or a much bigger steering wheel. (Again, the older I get, the weaker my arms become.)
17. Roll-up/down windows. (My weak arms can no longer hold the door open to get a breeze while I'm on my way to Canadian Tire during our annual two-weeks of "hot" weather in late July to early August.)
Etc.

To each his own Tony, I don't use it in my z, I'll occasionally turn it on in our '14 Rogue.

The primary reason I wanted CC functionality in my Z was not to actually use Cruise Control, but for changing between different tuning maps I have from the Uprev reflash. Currently the only way to use that feature, is to have the OEM CC switches. Otherwise I would have to bring it to my tuner every time I wanted to change maps. Having a valet map is sweet and a stock/oem map is necessary for passing smog here in CA.

I stand educated. Therefore I must state that I am not in any way, shape or form related to the number 1 iconic Canadian retailer I mentioned previously. I figured that that place would be one of the few that US readers might recognize and maybe even have visited.

Please accept my sincerest apology for accidentally promoting Canada's Cathedral of Automotive Worship.

It's a long story, but to make it short:

I had a slight disagreement with one of the managers there. She was getting loud, so I antagonized the situation and egged her on. I started mispronouncing her name after she corrected me, and I ended up calling her a "gremlin" or a "goblin" (she was short and stocky). She started shrieking that I was going to attack her, so she had me escorted off the property by two of the guys working the Parts counter. They laughed with me the entire way to my car - they didn't care much for her either.

That's how it works here. Cheers.

You wouldn't believe how many stories I've heard just like yours, Syner-- usually they're related to vehicle service.

So many customers have been shafted and become enraged by their atrocious, incompetent service departments (how's that for promotion?) that their list of enemies must be a mile long. It must be pretty tough to keep track of so many enemies.

If you know that woman's name, or her nickname, when you want to go to the store, just call first and ask if she's working. If she isn't, go. If she is, wait until she isn't.

Also, I doubt if your attractive nemesis is just sitting at the front door waiting to block your entry.

The reason that I asked for details of your being banned is that I have my own experience with "that place" (TP) and it also just happens to be right on topic (well, sort of)!

In 1990 I went to a TP in Calgary to have an aftermarket cruise control installed in a 1984 Impala. Short story made way too long, after a "technician" worked on it for a couple of hours, he announced that he couldn't install it, but TP still wanted to charge me full price for a successfully completed job and, not only that, they were going to keep possession of my vehicle until I paid.

I was so livid that from a pay phone inside TP I called the cops and told them what was happening. The cop I spoke to on the phone told me that the store could not do that, and that he would dispatch someone to assist me. Shortly thereafter I met the cruiser in the parking lot and told its occupant that TP was preventing me from taking possession of my property.

After emitting a short laugh while shaking his head, the cop said that he had been called for exactly the same reason ("they won't let me have my vehicle") on several other occasions at that exact same store. However, in spite of what I had been assured over the phone by the dispatcher ("that guy doesn't know his *** from a hole in the ground"), he said that it was a civil matter and he couldn't help me. I asked why he couldn't just escort me into the service department while I took possession of my property. "Politics" was his one-word reply and off he drove.

You know, joy can turn to sorrow very quickly.

I was between a rock and a hard place. I needed the vehicle the next day to take a very long drive to my new job. Ironically, this journey was exactly why I had gone to TP to get the cruise control installed.

After I considered an array of more violent alternatives (for example, at that time you could buy firearms and ammunition at TP), I regained my composure, paid the ransom and was allowed to take my vehicle.

The next morning I drove away from Calgary. I took that long trip ...........without cruise control....... and as my right foot/leg/knee ached, I was steaming and ranting and raving and pounding the steering wheel much of the way.

Since that day I have never taken a vehicle to a service department at TP, but I have confined my hatred to TP's service departments and have gone in to other departments to buy whatever.

We here in Canada have the privilege of seeing TV commercials that memorialize the great moments and people in Canada's history -- Laura Secord (walked 20 miles out of American-occupied territory in 1813 to warn British forces of an impending American attack), Louis Riel (founder of the province of Manitoba, and a political and spiritual leader of the Metis people of the prairies), etc. I hereby nominate for one of these commericals the typical Canadian automibile owner's experience over the decades at those hundreds of service departments at TP. But as well-deserved as this "tribute" would be, it will not ever happen. Why? "Politics".

While my wife and I had a winter home in Florida, I went to a very famous automotive service place that has the initials P. B. I was shortly thereafter told by experienced local Floridians that, to put it gently, I could have done better. They, too, had some interesting stories about P. B. that instantly reminded me of TP.
