Default Mr. Bright Side *Build Thread*

As some of you know, my wife was ran off the road by a nice young man who decided not to stick around (thread titled Sad Day). This is going to be my build thread as we decided to keep it. The car will be going to the body shop in the morning. I have asked that they take pics of the progress for me or allow my wife or me come take some so I can post it.

Here is a quick look of the day it happened....

I just went and picked up some Factory 18's as the wheels that are on it are cheapo wheels and missing the center caps, along with a rear bumper (still need to buy a fender). I'll be taking the wheels in to get powder coated or painted.

People that leave the scene are the worst, insurance almost never helps you because you cant prove it. Invest in a dashcam my man.

It's funny you mention dash cam, I usually have the GoPro mounted in the Z I took it out to charge and delete some older video. I am looking at getting a Papaco P3 for it now though, as it has built in Maps, plus the Dash Cams are typically based on GPS and show MPH, Lat/Long, Date, and Time.

The wife is dropping the Z off now.....

Not much progress has been made, wife gave the shop the wrong wheel lock so they had to wait until I got home to get it which they were closed by the time I got there. Dropped it off today and snapped a progress pic....

They are telling me it will be done next Friday. It's been raining and flooding here and we are expecting 90 degree weather so it's going to suck for them shop guys with all the humidity.

I am being told that the body guy messed up the cut of the replacement QP and they now have to order a new skin (which I told them to do in the first place). Now I'm being told the car won't be ready until next week.... Oh well it gives me some time now to get some other things done before she comes home.

I wouldn't powder coat those. The baking process makes them brittle and they break.

Are they giving you a break on the quarter panel price since they messed up the other, or is the insurance company picking up the charges on the repair?

I'll be painting the wheels, thought about PC but for the price I can do it myself.

I wish the insurance co was picking this repair up, and the shop is out the money, it's their mistake so they had to buy the skin from Nissan.

Question Mr. Bright Side

Just had a thought that is off-subject. This is the title of a song by the Killers correct?

Right now I'm concerned with getting her back from the body shop. As for end result, just doing a fun DD something we can take out on the curves on the weekends. I'll be doing some suspension work first, roads here are horrible so I'm not sure if I'll be going coilover or spring/shock, definitely a brake upgrade, then I'll get back on the engine. Mainly bolt on NA performance, it is my wife's car so I won't be doing any turbo/SC/nitrous, but I want to make sure the engine is leak free, compression checks out, and no hidden horrors first. Basically I'll just be taking it one day at a time, I'm not going to go rushing it just to be unhappy with the end result.
