IMO, Nissan missed the boat a few years ago by not keeping up with the competition. Why couldn't nissan build a modern (but smaller) 240sx, a Z with multiple engine options topping out at 425hp @ $45K?, then just leave the GTR where it is at.
Oh well thankfully the competition has a bunch of choices for us to choose from if Nissan isn't going to throw us a bone.

They should go back to the exterior design of the 350Z-HR, replace the problematic double-lower-ball-joint front suspension and concentric slave cylinder, add some sound deadening, and upgrade the interior parts.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to have light gray plastic under a delicate black finish should be sentenced to driving around in a crappy looking car for for the rest of their lives.

power windows too. id be perfectly fine with manual crank windows! lighter, less complex, cheaper to fix. hell, even all the power door lock stuff too. my 350 is the first car ive ever owned that has a key fob so i can open the doors sans key. i dont need it, even though being able to roll the windows down and let some of the hot air out is nice.
oh and when my door handle broke it was nice that i could roll them down and open the door from the inside rather than having to crawl over the console to get to the drivers seat. but i could have lived the couple of days it took for my new handle to get here haha!

this saddens me deeply im a huge nissan fanboy, probably cause the 240sx is the first car i had when i got into cars and being a tuner. ive been saying for years they need an entry level sports car something to rival the genesis coupe (2.0t) rediesign the sr or even the ca (friend had a 400hp weekend hero that ran forerver) put down numbers like the mustang eco boost that thing would be the next srt-4 then also put out another z with a lower displacement boosted v6 just shy of 400hp with eco and sport mode. these are my dreams saddly i will probably never see these

i agree with terrasmak it needs to lose lots of weight (think S2000 / BRZ/FR-S curb weights)
i also don't need power windows or power seats. i don't know how much heavier leather seating and steering wheel trim is versus cloth
^ the genesis coupe 2.0 is just as heavy as the 350z, the ecoboost mustang is even heavier
i think realistically it should/will stay NA power to not overlap with the GT-R, but at the same time they used to sell the Silvia alongside Skylines. perhaps turbo as an option based on trim? i'm pretty sure that's how it was with the Silvia and 300zx anyway
i think it'd be nice if they put some KERS style hybrid system to differentiate it from other entry level sports cars on the market
but that's probably me being greedy lol

What makes me laugh is the 350Z focus groups that Nissan got feedback from had totally different thoughts. They insisted the next Z needed to be less Spartan and have an upgraded interior. They felt the Z33 needed to be more upscale to attract them back as customers again.
As for weight, after stripping all the seats, interior, airbags, a/c, door windows & motors, stereo, etc. out of the Z33 to build an SCCA racecar, that stuff will not lighten the FM platform by a 1,000 pounds. To really make the next Z lighter by an appreciable amount, a car would have to be similar to the latest Alfa 4C- a carbonfiber tub and a price tag to match. Nissan will surely use high strength steel, aluminum and some CF in the next Z, but unless there is a design breakthrough, it'll still weigh in the neighborhood of 2,600- 3,000 pounds with all the mandated safety equipment.

Im curious as to what Hyundai is going to do with the Genesis Coupe. Rumor mill is a 3.3 Liter Twin Turbo making 420+/400TQ with possible available AWD. Ummm, sign me up.
