Default Route 66 Extended Warranty

We were offer this at the dealer, they say best is Easy street for 2600 dollars for 48months, does anyone have this? should we buy it? the mechanic say the car is working as it should and he see no problem. Our visa expire roughly 4 more years and we're planning to keep our car until then. thanks

Probably a rip-off, and certainly no bargain. Dealers get a big commission for selling them, and the companies often find ways not to pay for big ticket repairs when you need them.

^^Agreed- most aftermarket warranties are pure profit. There are plenty of legal loopholes in the contracts if you read the fine print and you are paying for any future repairs UP FRONT. My advice? Nissans are strong and durable cars if you don't screw them up. Learn all you can on proper maintenance and repair and spend your money there.

Ripoff.

I work in a bank and can tell you 100% it's pure profit for the dealer .

Never buy an extended warranty. If you want a car with one purchase brand new.

I actually did buy an extended warranty when I bought my '08, but it was Nissan's own warranty, not a 3rd-party. Paid about $1200 (from a different dealer than the one who sold me the car), and it just expired about 2 weeks ago. It covered 2 window motors, an alternator, a lower radiator hose, and a pair of hatch struts. So, basically, I broke even on the deal. I'd probably do the same again, with a new car I was going to keep, but I'd never buy one of those 3rd-party warranties. I've seen the contracts from a few, and there are plenty of loopholes they've can use to avoid paying you.

Don't have, but I always hear that Route 66 is one of the best warranty companies out there.
