Default Vgate Scan obd2 scan tool problems

I have a 2006 350z and recently purchased a vgate scan obd2 elm327 scanner for use with the torque or dash command app. I cannot get it to connect to my Z no matter what I try, its paired via Bluetooth and I entered the vehicle info but it just will not work. I know the scanner isn't faulty because I managed to get it to connect to a buddies 2014 mustang. If anyone has either a step by step guide on how to get it working with the Z specifically or knows some small setting I might have missed I would greatly appreciate the info!

Maybe the Z doesn't like junk? I have a OBDLink MX connected to my in car tablet and it works fine. There's no special way to hook up the Z it's the same as every other car. You plug in the obd reader, connect it via bluetooth to your android phone or tablet, then open torque/dashcommand and click connect. It's literally plug and play same steps for any car with obd.

I've got a cheap wifi scanner from Amazon (too lazy to go grab it from my car now), and it works great on my '08 Z and iPhone 5s.

If the scan tool shows no display at all, you may have a blown fuse. On my '03 it is the same fuse as the accessory outlet.

I use a Wireless OBD2 Scanner I leave plugged in and Dash Command works awesome. Even the gearing etc...
Only thing I really wanted to work was the A/F Ratio gauge which doesnt.
