Built By Wizards Raced by Madmen 350z Race car Build
Hello, 1st post, ive just purchased a 03 Z33 that my old man and i will be building to race in Sports Sedans and Super TT classes in Australia. Always been a fan of Zs, owned a 260 2+2, and a 260Z racecar, and always wanted another. I currently race a 180sx in Sports Sedans and Super TT, but a cheap roller came up and wheels started turning....so it begins.
Plans at moment for the 350 are LS2 with carb, fully adjustable suspension, decent brakes, GT3 and GT500 inspired bodywork (within the rules of classes i run in) We run full data logging in the 180, but with the 350 want to keep things as simple as we can, so wont be going in that direction....
Ive started reading the threads here on suspension etc, and will continue to until i start asking any questions.
Cheers

Body styling that gets me inspired, ive been searching and searching for wide body kits... and all i find are ones that just wont work for application or are 9k plus, being that we are in Australia, our dollar also blows, so ordering from USA is killer at moment. I did find a full GT500 kit, in carbon, 15k, but a its outside budget, and b, wont meet our rules so would need to be modified..and i couldnt do that to such a great kit.

Welcome to the board. There are a few of us who actively race our Z33s in SCCA or NASA here in the States. Our rules packages are much more restrictive than the ones you use in Oz. Check out the autocross and road racing section for more details.
Does Nissan Australia have an active completion dept that helps grassroots racers like we have here with Nissan Motorsports? If so, those Nissan VK56DEs (as used in the Thundercar Altimas) would be my choice if available for racing.

The classes i run in allow for engine changes, movement of engine in SS, in both classes i can go 100mm wider each side, and we can run decent sized wings and splitters. In sports sedans suspension and brakes are completely free....
can post up rules if any one is interested....

Nissan in Australia is terrible, one of the worst companies to deal with to get parts. I love nissan, but yer, useless here. They support nothing im afraid.

No need to post your rules, you gave a pretty good summary of them in your post. Sounds expensive! But I would like to know who is sanctioning this racing series?

Sorry to hear that Nissan Oz doesn't support their racers. Nissan North America actually makes money with their competition parts department! Doesn't the Altima supercars run by Kelley Racing get direct factory support?

Sanctioned? Sports Sedans is run by Cams and Super TT by AASA the only two bodies that run circuit racing in Australia, basically everything comes back to them.
