To buy my Z back or not

BTW, OP, I've got a VIS Nismo V2 front bumper in Tampa for $200 picked up. Wrong color (QX1), but it's a perfect fit. I can't use it because it scrapes on the speed bumps on the way into my work parking garage. I've got a pair of INGS side skirts, too, I'll throw in for cheap.

I never have either but I have seen it happen. I don't know if all ins companies do it but the ones that do, I think, like the idea of not dealing with getting rid of the vehicle. In the case of a modded car it makes more sense as the mods alone can pay for the buy back as the ins companies don't really recognize the value of those items all of the time. Or if you have some sought after options like factory Brembos or a rare interior.

Yea if it was 9.5k cash or the z. Cash all the way. But 9.5k cash and the chance of getting the wrecked car for 1.5k, then hell yea but the car back.

Just after Christmas, I was driving down a wet road by my house and hydroplaned. My baby has been totaled by the insurance company and I am trying to decide whether or not to buy it back and part it out or take the cash. They offered me 9500 for the car in total and told me I could buy it back for 1700.

potential frame damage
replace control arms
replace tie rods
replace front end suspension
replace rim
also need a new wheel alignment
also if your not a handy guy and a raisin like turboed350z factor in this thing called LABOR COST.
and that is just 1 section that can cost about 2k......if their is frame damage the car will probably never drive the same ever again.
those bolt ons that you have on your Z is worth no more than probably 2k....not worth salvaging.

In addition, every one of your posts contain inflammatory, highly opinionated comments disrespecting peoples' abilities and choice to have their cars worked on by professionals. I respect that you feel this way and you are entitled to an opinion but when it incenses others in the forum, there is nothing good to come out of such commentary. (Frankly, it comes off as over-compensation but that's just my take.)
I may or may not be the only one bothered by this incessant and irrelevant noise, but this will stop now.

Earn $9500.00 or Spend $1700+repair cost and the potential of complex issues you may spend more time and money chasing?
It's sad, it's a nicely set-up Z but, I'd say take the $9500.00. Your insurance already has you in their sights for the accident, you might as well take the money.
It's a shame, Florida rain is unforgiving to our little sports cars and their lack of traction in the wet.

I would buy it back, that leaves $7800 to buy another car. Then take your time to fix the Z , or part it out. Parting it out will bring in an easy $4k

If it's not "totaled", it would go to auction and you would have to track it down and bid on it. I'm sure there are plenty of other scenarios.

It can go from 110 degrees surface temp at 1:00pm to torrential down pouring of rain on our mostly flat roads in an instant. It doesnt make for ideal situations. The soft soil along with the limited interstate highways means a large amount of commercial transportation on the these roads end up leaving our highways with grooves, channels and poor road surfaces. It can be like driving those go-carts that are on the rails at boomers.
I'm sure every has their own issues. I've driven in Georgia and the Carolinas and always thought they had some nice road ways.

My understanding was if they "total" the car, once you take the payout from the insurance company, you can no longer purchase the car. It would be scraped.

Seashells and coral mixed into asphalt, had that in Okinawa, slick when wet.
