Hello! I'm looking to buy my first 350z, what should I look for? Is it ok for one to be over or around 100k? The ones I can afford are around that mileage. Feel free to give any suggestions! Love a 350z want to make sure my purchase is worth it!

If you can only afford a vehicle with 6 fig on the odo, you can't afford the car. They are great yes, but maybe it's just not the time for you to own one. Try another Z in the family, and upgrade when you're ready.

Depends what you want out of the car.

When i was building mine, i wanted the lowest mileage possible. Then i wanted a second one just cause, and bought one with 100k miles. It now has 102k miles after over a year of ownership.

Find a clean, well maintain car and mileage wont matter.

If they car was beat one, put away wet, never had an oil change, 25k miles will be consider high mileage. Vs a 100k miles owned by an enthusiast that cared for the car as if it was his only child will be in pristine condition.

although it was to a friend, and someone who saw it from day one... but take your time, they are out there

I really believe that mileage is only one aspect of what you look at when buying any used car. I wanted to spend 8 or 9 grand on a weekend toy. I looked around at cars for about a year and finally ran across my 04 ZR with 99k miles and bought it for $8500 cash. Took it to my Nissan dealer first and they kept it a day checking everything over and they said it was in excellent shape. 6 months later it has been perfect. I know it has only been 6 months but i would think that if anything was previously wrong with the car, it would have shown up by now.
Don't rule out cars that have around 100k on the odometer. Just do a carfax, have a good mechanic look it over and you can save a lot of money for mods.

I sold my very clean, stock '04 with ~45k miles for $14k a few weeks ago.

350z's can last 200,000 miles easily if they are taken care of properly. You should look for what you like, there really isn't a specific model or style to stay away from, its mostly personal taste. I will say they 2006+ models have an updated interior that looks MUCH better than the older models. Any model with the HighRev engine is fantastic, that would be my recommendation. The HighRev engines are built with 80% updated parts and produce more power than any other 350z stock; they're also the newer years so they run a bit more than pre-2007 Z's in price.

You mentioned your budget is 12-15k "with trade in." I'm assuming that means you would be buying one from a dealership? I think you'd be better off selling your current vehicle yourself since you'd get more money then buying private party. Dealerships charge more than cars are usually worth plus they try to get you to buy all these extra things you don't need. That's just my preference, though. If you do buy from a private party be sure to run the carfax, get all the paperwork, receipts for work done, and get a PPI somewhere.

I think you'll love a 350z. I've had mine for a few years now and it still puts a smile on my face. They're extremely reliable and cheap to maintain or mod, if that's what you're into. If you're planning on building the car obviously you should look for a lower mileage one. If you don't plan on doing more than bolt-ons a 100,000+ Z should suit you well. Although, with your budget you should easily be able to afford a lower mileage one. Or you could snag one near 100k miles for relatively cheap and spend the saved cash on mods or what ever?

Last bit of advice would be when you're looking to buy don't get overly excited and pay too much. I've seen it happen with many buyers. They see a car they like and pay way too much for it. Do research on the car you're looking into buying, see how much its actually worth using KBB or something similar as a benchmark. If someone is selling a Z for 15k and its worth 12k and they aren't willing to come down to a reasonable price. Walk away. 350z's are ALWAYS being sold. For every car you pass on there will be 2 more you can buy. DO NOT SETTLE!!!!!! Wait for one you like at a price you like. Its simple really.

The '07-'08 models have the high rev motor, not uprev. Anniversary models and '06 6mt models have the revup engine, which is where I think your confusion stems from. UpRev is an aftermarket ecu tuning solution.

Would not recommend the Rev Up motor, I, along with many others dealt with oil consumption issues. However, my newer Z, the 08 (HR) is a beast.
