Default (Noob Post) 2007 Nismo 350z Straight Pipe or Test Pipe?

I'm looking into either straight piping or switching my cats for test pipes and I wanted some opinion on it. Will I have loss or gain of Hp on either one? If anyone has a similar setup can you post videos thanks

No you won't.
That being said the VQ sounds like *** with a straight pipe or with test pipes with out resonators. Get a resonated test pipe or ART pipes from motordyne.

You will lose down low power with test pipes no tune. but gain up high.

since your in los angeles, i would not recommend getting test pipes because california police have to follow by the laws to turn every real car enthusiast into a ricer so they send them to the BAR to force them to change out everything to stock or get fined 3000 bucks.

Are they really throwing people in the federal pen over taking out there Cats? I seriously doubt that...

I'm sure they could fine you though, but tons of cars are riding around without cats.

the only state in the entire country that cares about taking off your cats is california.

the worst that i have really seen to be honest is they give you a ref ticket and you have to put your cats back on and get your car re inspected for like 80 bucks. then you can take your cats off again if you want.

this idea of a 10,000 dollar ticket because you dont have cats is true but i have NEVER heard of it ever happening that is just cops sitting on car forums bluffing.

if you live in the state of california, i would recommend not thinking about anything that revolves around being a real car enthusiast like turbo kits and superchargers and loud *** exhausts with 2 step rev limiter flames,

the minute you pass a cop with that sexy *** blow off valve sound, they think oh we need to pull him over right now we can't have real car enthusiasts here they are f7cking up our air with their polluted car.

i would recommend plasti dipping your wheels, wrapping your grill carbon fiber, wrapping your license plate with carbon fiber, maybe putting a bunch of jdm stickers all over the car. i would recommend lowering your car super super super low where they wheel are completely slanted and join the cambergang and save up your money so the people at shops can do everything for you the cops wont pull you over for that in california they will give you a thumbs of because your what they want you to be a ricer by california law. because all of these ricer types of behaviors doesnt do anything to the air......as which millions of people breathe in california

Please do not go straight pipe. I passed a kid with a clean 350 thing morning. Then he took off and kept it under 3500 RPM.... The girl I was with said that's the worst sounding car shes ever heard. She wasn't wrong it sounded like a$$.

Straight pipes sound like garbage until your at least above 4k RPM. Please don't do that. They make ricer civics sound good.

Straight test pipes are the thing to do.

Actually, I would learn more about what you are trying to talk about. The go to the HR specific section or the Intake/exhaust section.

If you think you'll lose horsepower for removing cats, you should really do some more research.

As for sound? Go to a meet or show. Nobody can show you videos or tell you what's better. I prefer the sound of a single. I have ART pipes and a tomei single and Y. Or is it a motordyne Y... meh. I don't know. It sounds good, I have like 5 resonators in my system and it is a VERY loud and VERY clean sound. If you don't have an aftermarket cat-back I wouldn't touch your cat delete at all. Get a full system or do it in stages from the REAR of the car.

You can get in serious trouble for not having the cats on.

Depends on where in SoCal you're at and how sick and tired the LEOs are of scene, especially if you have young idiots doing burnouts, donuts, street racing in your area. I know that SGV and Pasadena area hood pops every 240 out there looking for SR20DET swaps. That was a while back not sure how it is now.

Its pretty obvious to the car behind you that the cats are missing. If the cop behind you just busted a bunch of kids and you seem to fit in with the crowd, be ready for a minimum ref ticket.

can you get in trouble for not having cats, yeah you can..... depends on the state and the cop though..

lose power in the low end.... meh, but you do lose torque which is what gets you going

being you are in commifornia, i wouldn't touch the cats. if i remember correctly they do a visual. unless you want to swap yearly for inspection, its not worth it

I thought test pipes were straight pipes....? I have resonated test pipes with invidia Gemini and actually it sounds perfect. Since Gemini are a mild exhaust it's not that loud. No rasp since test pipe is resonated. Art pipes cost like 600, resonated test pipes go for around 200. U do lose some low end power, but it frees up the restrictive cat, and u will gain noticeable power at top, which feels great when u red line and the sound is addicting.

Many people also speed, text while driving, run stop lights and stop sign, doesnt make any of it legal.

It is a FEDERAL crime to remove the cats. It is ALSO a federal crime to KNOWINGLY run catless. Also the state CAN impound your car.

I never said he shouldnt rub cats or anything. I simply state that its a federal crime, which it is. And all for what? 2whp in an already sluggish car?

I originally had test pipes and I don't recommend it. It makes the Z sounds really raspy and cheap. Like a fart through a Pepsi can. High flow cats are way better with an aftermarket exhaust. Otherwise, you'll be as quiet as stock with HFC's.

Lesbihonest here, nobody wants to rub a cat, unless it's of the kitty variety.
