All depends on the driver. Z can beat WRX with a terrible driver and vice versa.

I have an 03 350z and before it was built and boosted I ran the exact same mods as you have on your 06. I just bought a 15 WRX limited 3 days ago.
The wrx will definitely get you on the launch and probably 1st and 2nd, but after that the Z will absolutely destroy the wrx. The wrx pretty much loses all of its pull after the end of 2nd.
If you can shift well enough the 350z will win without a doubt. let us know how it goes.

I had a 2015 STI WRX almost bought it, the dealer gave it to me for 3 days trying to get me to jump on it. My HR is faster. In every metric. I only have HFCs. That being said the FA20 in the Non STI has a lot more low end TQ.

I agree.

I own both; 06 350z and 17 wrx. After owning the WRX after a couple of months, I was a little disappointed by the power from the top end.

My 350z has been in the shop for almost 2 years so I don't remember how it felt completely, but it is without a doubt faster than my wrx. My wrx barely pulls my friends 2012 civic si, my 350z used to put several car lengths on him.

I have a rev up Z all bolt ons plus superlock and a 6puck and it'll eat my 14 wrx(but its stock besides exhaust which doesn't add anything). I agree with the previous post, the rex after 110-120 runs out of steam while the Z still pulls plus you got an extra gear, that is i dont know how long the distance traveled will be

Neither.

Eagle eye. Many Subaru guys crap on the new STI's. Heavy, under powered and soft.

3100 pounds is not heavy for a modern car. especially with AWD

In a straight line my Revup with only a catback is much faster. On a track with the same tires and both drivers switching between cars times were matched lol.

Never said it was the heaviest car out there. Just sharing the dislike of STI and Subaru guys say in general with the newer gens.

Eagle eyes are still the most popular by far.

But 3200 is a good bit for a little 4cyl.. even if it comes in FI.

Stock for stock, I believe the 350Z will take it from a roll - an STI would fare better but a base WRX won't have the power. From a stop, the WRX will get out ahead and the 350Z will catch up at some point. Start modding the cars and things change.

The usual advice applies - if you really value drag racing, a Mustang or F Body V8 would have been a better choice as they will casually walk both cars with bolt ons.

The cylinder count really has nothing to do with it. While the PEAK HP/TQ numbers haven't gone up by much if any the low end TQ on the New STI is fantastic, better than the Z even in a car that's lighter. The earlier WRX/STIs had terrible low end TQ.The FA 20 in the WRX this is even more pronounced. The problem is drivetrain loss and no HP Uptop. Aero and weight transfer also plays a role. The Z shifts it all over the power wheels where the STI likes to front bias and it shifts off. (STI and WRX are not the same at all but I haven't driven a non STI WRX for more than an hour where I have a lot of seat time in STIs.)

I have a Mazdaspeed 3 with 280ft pounds to the ground but it doesnt rev, and doesn't have top end power. On paper my Z should lose. In reality the Speed3 would get **** on. Hard.

I seem to have struck a cord with you lol

Again not my words. I'm just passing off what I've read and what all my hard core subi friends say about their new and old Subaru.
