Default Questions/Problems with 370z

Hey all,
I'm a new member here, but not new to the automotive forums. I am in the market for a new car and in my research I was looking at the 350z. But I came across two (what I think to be big) problems with them.

1) Synchros in the transmission tend to fail prematurely.
2) Tire feathering/ premature tire wear.

I was wondering what you all thought of these issues and if anyone knows them to be address in the next generation Z (the 370 of course).

Chime in with thoughts, opinions, real data to back them up or not. I'm just curious while I'm shopping around.

Glad I came across this site and hope to contribute in the future!

Get either an 05 to avoid tire feathering, or an 07 08. 370 will be completely new so no one will have any idea what has been address, the official specs aren't even out yet.

Thanks for that savvy!

What about the synchros in the tranny? Any word on that? It was something that my backyard mechanic specifically mentioned and that I had come across a bit 'on the tubes'.

check g37 forums for drivetrain problems as this will most likely be the same tranny in that car...perhaps a little different.

i've heard of nothing major with it, but the g37 does have some interesting electrical problems, none of which will impact the 370z

if you can afford it go either 07 or 08 not only for the power boost but also there have yet to really be any major problems on them so far. There have been several tranny upgrades over the years, on CD0009 i believe is the newest and best one. The newer the better, except for the 06's some have terrible problems with oil consumption.

really? That was one of the other cars that I was looking into and have yet to hear that it has electrical issues. I would hate to join half a dozen boards, do you or anyone else have a link to that issue?

** EDIT **
Doing some tube surfing, I found this link. Just thought I would post here for others: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/
