Default Car & Driver 370Z road test

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...370z_road_test
Highs: Amazing rev-matching system, nimble, 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Lows: Slim view astern, noisy tires, a couple of awkward styling cues.

The Verdict: At this price, possibly the best sports car on the planet.

This time is actually better than what some others have mentioned from the Jan 09 issue.

13.5@106mph

I am starting to believe that Nissan lied about the weight....but at the same time I don't really care.

I would love to see a test of the 7AT

I am a handling guy and so for I am really liking what I am seeing.

.97G is no joke, neither is the 13.5@106MPH. All that and 332HP at the top end is so sweet.

The .97G of grip can be largely attributed to the RE50As they use - it's extremely sticky rubber, much more so than our OEM Deathtenzas.

Decent review. Sounds like a winner once we all get past just looking at it. Just a tenth behind the old Cayman S they said to 60mph...320hp upcoming Cayman S upgrade with PDK is gonna keeeelll the 370z lol...Oh well the Nismo version is gonna get it or at least close to it....Thanks for the link OP.

I think the Zs starting getting RE50As since 2007.

"The Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires grip very well on dry pavement, and are relatively stable (for high-performance dry tires) in the wet."

From a 2007 Grand Touring review. My roommate also bought some 2007 stockers that had RE050As on them.

These RE50As on the 370 are the Pole Positions (98W), which cost about $50 more per tire. The original Potenzas (94W) on the GTs and Nismos were great, but the Pole Positions are much better in dry, and especially wet conditions.

Edit: Err, actually. Does that say 98W in the scan or 96W? It's kinda' blurry. The Pole Positions do seem to be the only ones that have a 275 tire in 96W. I'm confused. We just need this damn car to come out already.

So then the Cayman will be on point with MT's test of 4.7!!!

It still remains to be seen how they match on the track. As long as the Z is close to the current Cayman, I do not care about the 320hp one. There will ALWAYS be a someone badder. And, let's face it... Porsche WAS NOT going to let themselves be bested twice by Nissan, GT-R AND 370Z....

At least Porsche showed their cards before the Nismo....now Nissan can make the Nismo fight the 320 HP Cayman S. Just give the Nismo 345 to 350 HP and it should be able to trade blows with it.

Yup. I got so many bad comments when I reported my weight findings from the Z unveiling not long ago saying that I was wrong, yada yada. This article shows exactly what I was saying. A base with sport package is 3300+ pounds. A touring with sport package and Nav package (a fully loaded Z) will run around 3500lbs. To many 370z fan boys out there just don't want accept things.

Imo, it's better to look at the slalom speed. Skidpad tests are too dependent on the quality of tire and conditions. Slaloms have a much better focus on handling characteristics as a whole, and not just grip.

True but key word was "possibly", they will come up with some comparison real soon to see who's the best to them!

Did you guys see the top speed for 5th and 6th gears? They electronically limited at 6th gear at 6050RPM at 157mph. It would havve at least go 170mph.

Let's crack that!

It isn't just you. I get a lot of sh*t from people too for disputing the 370Zs weight and disputing its loss of weight over the 350Z. The harsh reality seems to be, so far, the 370Z has gained weight over the 350Z.

If its faster in turns and a straight line... I don't really care if it gained a little weight

It remains to be seen if it's faster in the straights. Looking forward to seeing these cars in the hands of forum drivers. Also, imo, 100lbs isn't a little weight. Compare a stock 3250lb 06-08 Touring, to a 3370lb 370Z (which is allegedly a base with sports pkg). Nevermind that the 03-05s are even lighter at 3150-3200lbs. To me, at 3370lbs (base with sports package), the 370Z is heavy. 200lbs heavier than my car in its current form.
