Wow. That sure is a lot of mods that take up space for no reason. Tint, bra, led under dash? Sorry but that took up 1/2 my cell phone trying to read these other posts.

I think the 370 engine is bullet proof TBH... Some of the 09 models had oil consumption issues, but aside from that they are solid. Not to mention a lot of people have been running in the 450-500 HP range with an unbuilt engine and have been fine so far... Do some more research, the engine is probably the most solid part of the car

Let's be honest guys, we don't really know what's better nor care to answer the OP. Bottomline OP, unless your mechanic friend shows you clear and exploitable data, he's just talking aout of his a$$.

Does this hold true for 370z's as well?

yes MOST uneducated people do buy japanese cars based on the usumption of reliability. BUT nothing can compare to the power a chevy, or ford even, combined with reliability. i would say un-biasly american v8ws last the longest at 300hp, and a toyota is the most reliable non-american car but it means nothing when they make 140hp.
your question really needs to be; is 'x' car reliable with a 11.5 compression motor with 300hp?
a v8 makes 300hp easily at 5000rpm with 8:1 compression. a v6 does 300hp at 6500rpm with 11:1 compression and variable valve timing. i love both and they should both do 300k miles if maintained correctly. but you do the math.
also they put the same 3.5 engine in exteras, maximas and g sedans, if it wasnt GREAT it wouldnt be in every third nissan every built after 03.

No way a 2007 ford mustang will last as long as a 2007 350z under the exact same care and not cost more in repairs.
Domestic cars and traditional foreign cars now made by the pathetic American automakers are not built as well as a lot of foreign made and assembled cars.
I won't buy another car manufactured in this country until they can make a car to last.

actually ford is the only v8 to make it on wards best 10 engines this year and several import company's make v8's, also on that list is the chrysler pentastar 3.6(yah i know not technically american anymore but people still associate it as one.), ford ecoboost 2.0, and gm ecotec 2.0 turbo(which in drag racing if you run a ecotec its so good they make you add 200 lbs to your car vs other 2.0's the whole unibolt deal to squeeze the engine togeather was genius).

so out of 10 engines 4 are american, japan only has 3 posted and not a single one nissan(2 honda and then the toyobaru boxer engine) then 3 european 1 audi and 2 bmw.

power breakdown the ford is the most powerful v8 offered in a mass produced car ever, the domestic 4's destroy the japanese 4's and a respectable amount ahead of the bmw 4, and the domestic 6 is a good amount ahead of the japanese 6 and close to the bmw and audi 6 even though both of them have FI and the pentastar dosnt.

do you have prices for repairs on both because outside of me all my family drives fords and a mustang gt(one of my aunts owns one and my uncle owns one) cost's far less for parts then my 350z for the same item to be replaced although none of the three have had any issues. to top that off the mustang is far, far cheaper to mod. its only real downside is it handles like a brick but they are improving on that, supposedly the next chassis is supposed to be a respectable 3300 lbs. GM's lsx v8 is also one of the most popular engine's in the world, enough so that its pretty much THE engine to swap into anything nowadays, 1400 hp on a stock bottom end 5.3L when the magazine is purposely trying to blow it up and can't is pretty impressive.

so tell me how again are they crap like you seem to think they are? because stat wise domestic is actually one of the best routes to go in the current market, im thinking you are one of the uneducated people joker is talking about because everything you said is contrary to fact.

editoh yah last year the domestics had the same 4 engines too on wards best 10 only change was instead of the mustang 5.8 supercharged(which dint exist last year) they had the 5.0 coyote same for 2011. 2010 was the last time the japanese engines placed as well as the domestics with 3 each the domestics putting up the 3.5L ecoboost, fords n/a 2.4 inline 4 and gms non turbo 2.4L ecotec.

Wifes focus is 3 years old no issues that's more then a year or two, dads f150 ecoboost is up to 75k with a lot of it towing and hauling, his focus he had had 150k on it before he sold it. Step brothers focus he just sold had 120k on it when he sold it for one with 115k and more options. Like my previous post said your opinion is very opposite of what the actual facts are.

Default I still feel that the HR engine is the best

The 370z is a great car but the engine gets hot after just a little performance. Also the engine has more vibration at higher RMP than the HR.
Vibration & engine running hot is not a small thing. There are reasons why that happens.
The HR is almost understructible!!!!

Jok3r and andre1935396452469204 are two of the worst "contributors" this site has seen recently. OP, it's best to ignore them.

Simply put if you're concern about reliability in a sports car then this is not the car for you. You may be better off with a econobox.
