Default 370Z Victorious at 2014 SCCA Runoffs!

Congratulations to Dave Daughtery and his Zorro Racing 370Z on winning the Touring 3 Runoffs title today at Laguna Seca. Daughtery put the Z34 on the pole with an all-out run in the third and final qualifying session on Thursday. He avoided a first lap melee that eliminated two top contenders from Ford and BMW, before another Mustang came up to challenge for the lead.

This was door-to-door racing at its best and Daughtery managed to fight back after losing the lead. He outbraked the Mustang entering T6 and broke out into a lead he held to the checkered flag. It was his eighth SCCA National Championship and a first for the 370Z! This is the biggest victory for the Z34 outside of pro racing, more here:

Good to hear the Z34 outbraking anything. Still can't seem to shake that story in C&D (lightning lap I think).

SCCA Touring rules allow front brake ducting. The Akembonos with racing pads are strong and have proven to be among the best in the right hands...

After 100+ views of this thread, the best this board can do is give a backsided comment on the Z34 brakes!? This Runoffs victory was an amazing accomplishment and the biggest win for a near stock Z in years.

I'm genuinely happy about it... I'll be shopping for brakes soon and have been thinking of getting the Akebonos. As a matter of fact, I need a new front bumper too, so this has me thinking of brake ducting !

Most Z owners never use their brakes hard enough to get them super hot. Nissan did such a good job with underbody aero that the front brakes just don't get much airflow. Adding some dedicated brake ducts to your new bumper makes a lot of sense. Can you add the new 2013-15 bumper to your Z34 when you replace the front?
