I finally got an opportunity to check out a GTR in person today. My local Nissan dealer is getting three of the them and the service manager is a buddy of mine. He sent me an email that the first GTR arrived today. It was a Premium model, black with dark gray wheels. MSRP was $73,000, but the dealer is selling it for $15,000 over. The second one, a white one is due in tomorrow. They are also expecting a third one which is supposed to be silver.
My impressions:
1) The car looks better in person than in the pictures I have seen, but still isn't a very striking car compared to other exotics. The black with the dark gray wheels looks very good though.
2) The car doesn't appear as large as I thought it would.
3) The interior is nice. I didn't get to drive it, but I did get to sit in the driver's seat with the car running and play with all the buttons. The seats are very nice and so is the rest of the interior, although it is all business. The nav/information system is nice, but it has way to many functions for me to keep up with them all.
4) The brakes are huge. I also didn't realize that the rotors are two piece and cross drilled.
5) The car is very quiet at idle. Sounds like any other Nissan.
6) Based on what my buddy told me the car is going to be expensive to maintain and repair if the repairs are not under warranty.
7) If I was going to buy one I would wait until next year when the hopefully you can get one for MSRP, or maybe a little under.
Regardless it was awesome to be able to check the car out in person.

Our dealership is selling an Ivory Pearl GT-R msrp 71k...but asking price is 95K!...
Yes it looks like 15K to 20K over MSRP is not uncommon. Apparently dealers have to spend 25K to 50K on equipment, training and certification in order to be able to sell GTRs. I guess they are trying to recoup that expense.

I just saw my first one today. Service Rep at Nissan Woodmen in Colorado Springs was nice enough to let me know they had one. Got 3 in, all pre-sold and one more coming in that's not taken yet.
BUT a HUGE +1 to point number 6 on OP. Nissan guy said it will cost about $8500 for a brake job at 10 - 15K miles, BUT the transmission has to be service every 1800 miles for about $1000 a POP. WTF
That's basically $14000 in maintenance costs on just those two items every $10,000 miles. Translated you will buy the car twice in $50,000.
So much for it being a Joe Main Street Exotic. Can anyone verify those numbers?
I've seen at the LA Auto when it first arrived in US. I pooped my pants in excitement. GTR isn't an exotic. It's formidable track machine that can be used as a daily beater. With an exotic you go 5k miles and everything falls apart.

Yeah this is kinda weird.. If these are true prices. That would make the 997TT (My brother in law keeps asking me to buy his 08 TT ) more attractive. My wife is allowing me to get one good car to last me at least 5 yrs. I thought the GTR was good buy but if this is true, forget it. Even with costs aside every 1800 miles you need to take it in?
I waited y-e-a-r-s for my 'O4 Touring Coupe; I can wait some more for the GT-R to de-
preciate...NO problemo!

'O4 Touring Coupe! Flawless AT!! 13k!!! $2O,5OO!!!! NO feathering!!!!!
Saw one at the dealer today when I was starting an oil consumption test on my rev-up.
- $77,000 MSRP + $30,000 "NW Marketing Adjustment"
- Automatic tranny! ???
- Back seats which are completely unusable unless you have a midget driving.
- Better looking than I thought it would be.
Don't like the rear. Ass looks too much like a Charger. And it's a huge car. I thought it was going to be smaller, and more stream lined. I was dissapointed. Saw it when I went to visit Frank at the Montclair Nissan dealership. They have one in the showroom.
Montclair Nissan and West Covina Nissan, the 2 best dealerships for personal and professional/reliable service, thanx to Frank and Ric, Jeff, Jennie and Jason.
