1. "a PURE sports care wouldnt have back seats"
-ok lets break this news off to porsche and tell them that their 911's arent "true sports cars" rofl
2. your comprehension ftl. i said that the Z06 is faster than the GT-R in a straight line. no modding needed their sir.
3. exclusivity and practicality aside, the GT-R is a better sports car.
in any case this doesnt make the Z06 any less of a car, i love that damn thing and would love to own one.

Did the OP ever decide on a new toy??
I was deciding between both cars earlier this year and I ended up choosing the Z06.
One of the factors for me was the amount maintenance the GT-R required if you are going to track the car alot at HPDE's.
I picked up my '09 Z06 on Memorial Day (for a killer price, no surprise there given the state of affairs of Domestic automakers) and have been to 6 HPDE's since and I have only done 3 oil changes and as preventative maintenance I swapped trans and diff fluid to AMSOIL and of course I have 2 brake fluid flushes and a ton of bleeds. All of this was done by myself (easy to work on) and the cost for all the fluids (to date) was about 400 for everything.
As much as I wanted the GT-R, it seemed that Nissan just wanted the owners to go through way too many hoops to keep everything within warranty state.
I've come across a few GT-R's at the track, next time I will have to remember to ask the owner what the upkeep is like to run them and how many trackdays they have.
You really can't go wrong with either choice, they both are great handling, very fast cars that not too long ago could have been in the top 10 on a race circuit in stock form - - simply amazing!!!

I want a Vette.....since:
--it look 10 times better, with basic exotic look on it.
--it has unique pushrod sound which making it unique as Mazda rotary & stroker bike.
--& it was rare here at asia.....its lotsa japanese car but rarely to spot even a cadillac
or pony 'stang......

you all need to read the comparisons that make the lowly Camaro better than the GTR (which was ironically on the banner of this very page....sellout my350Z)

I think that, given the particular choice of emoticon that I used at the end of my question, the answer to your question is quite clear
Darren(doesn't follow the insurance-based definition of what a sports car is)

*The USDM JZA80 TT 6-speed came factory with 320hp and 315 ft/tq
*It's stock Getrag transmission has been known to handle well over 1500whp/1000ft tq on 100's of passes w/ full slicks.
*In stock form it goes 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds.
*In stock form it goes 13.1 in the 1/4 mile @ 109mph!
*In stock form it managed a skidpad rating of 0.95 lateral g's (200 ft)!
*In 1997 it broke the world record for braking going from 70mph - 0mph in 149ft. This record for best braking by any production car was held by the Supra from 1997 until 2004, when the Porsche Carerra GT beat it by 3 ft (7 years after Toyota stopped making USDM MK4's).
So, in stock form it ran a low 13-second quarter-mile, went 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, pulled .95 g's on the skidpad and held the best stopping record for any production car for 7 years straight, only to be bested by a Porsche.
With all due respect, in stock form, how is this not a sports car?

The 575 Marinello would be considered a sports car based on your definition, as would many others, and they certainly are not sports cars.
I based my opinion off of road test ratings and subjective criteria. calling it a 'gt' car doesn't mean it isn't a beast, or a decent handling car, but it's not a sports car.
