Playing around on the GTR forums and that was the price quoted from Nissan to do a brake job on a GTR. That is for rotors, pads and labor. Although I did find a group buy deal going on right know:
List for the front Rotor pair: $ 1,710.62
List for the rear Rotor pair: $ 1,823.10
List for front pads: $ 568.93
List for rear pads: $ 324.36
Total list: $4,427.01

ok, so how did the 4k in parts get to 8-9k installed ? also, what do you need to do to kill the 15" rotors ?
Because a group buy from a private vendor is not what Nissan is giong to charge at the dealership. Its probably closer to $5500-6000 in parts and a couple grand in labor.
This is where Nissan will likely make most of its money back on the car. They can get away with selling that car at $70-80k if they are charging $8-9k for a brake job and $15-20k for the transmission.

The labor is what is questionable. I priced out these exact same components on West Covina Nissan's website and it totaled out somewhere in the vicinity of $4k.

A buddy of mine on here got a quote from the Infinity dealership to do a brake job on his G35 with Brembos and they quoted over 4K Canadian LOL. He ended up getting all the parts for under $500 and payed $90 for the install at a performance shop.
I wonder what GTR owners think when they go in for a brake service and hear those numbers, I'm sure a lot of them have no idea what to expect.

Is the brake system on the GTR hard to work on by yourself? I've always done everything hands-on so if it's not possible to work on the car by myself it's a huge turn off. I understand with certain components you need a shop and expertise but brakes are pretty straight forward...seems not so much with Godzilla!
it is no different than the brembo on the z. just larger. and yes, the parts will be more, but the labor should not. hell... add 4 hours to the total, its $ 400 more... not 4k more ! i

Are you trying to state that they are no different in terms of whats involved maintenance wise?
Edit: Because if that is the case I'd assume you are partially right. The only thing about changing the rotors discs on an R35 is I'm not sure how long it takes to disassemble a two piece rotor and put it back together as I've never had to do this firsthand. I'd imagine with the correct tools like anything else it would be pretty straight forward and simple, but I could be wrong.
at that price you only get a rotor ? no hat ? wow !!! how much are floating ap 14.25 ? ( just rotors )
I'm not sure what that price includes, you would have to ask the OP. I'm just saying, being that the rotors are 2-piece there would be no reason to change the hats.
Well in the GTR brakes you have alot of steps to complete to make sure you properly seat the pads to rotors correctly on test drive. Also brake fluid is flushed twice before drive and after drive to remove any air bubbles. There is also a process to make sure calipers pistons are giving equal force to pads. If i remember right Nissan said to charge like 8hrs of labor.
Another thing on GTR brakes is the pads are made from sintered iron and the only reason to replace these are when you overheat the pads and cause cracks in the lining and or ash deposit.
