2010 GT-R Discussed by Chief Engineer (Launch Control Improvements!)
This has been a huge discussion and topic of warranty issues for 2009 customers. However I find it very interesting that all the fuss is mute do to the fact that it's purpose is not to produce the best 0-60 times but to aid in inclement weather/traction situations.

Well.... In the rare times I have been driving in ice, sleet, snow or even very wet roads... I have used my cars ability to start in 2nd gear (the name varies) as this makes alot of sense to me. And anyone with a car this powerful surely could use such a system... especially if they happen to get in bad weather!

Nissan should have never showed the magazine writers/auto reviewers the technique of using it for faster 0-60 times then if they solely wanted to use it for inclement weather driving.

New LC allows 3000rpm's off the line instead of the 1st year cars 4800rpms (IIRC)
The 2nd year it had no LC and could only come out of the hole at 2200rpm's.
I read that in a new C&D last night.
This years is a compromise between murdering your $20K tranny and launching like a pu$$y. The result? According to C&D the 0-30mph is .6 slower than originally, ouch! By 150mph they are tied.

That weaksauce launch control update enabled one of the locals to run an 11.2 stock.

The launch control update is where you take your early GTR with LC1 (4500 rpm launch) and have it reprogrammed to LC2 so that you can launch with the traction control on in "R" mode, thus maintaining warrantee coverage.
1/4 mile times are pretty much identical (low 11's) and 0-60 with LC2 seems to only be about 2/10ths of a second slower on average.
