You could probably look at the corvette Z06 prices to get an idea. Those cars are around the same price and not as exclusive since they make more of them and performance is about the same. Yet the prices on those stay up there. As long as people like you want them and look for them the value will stay up there. When people start looking at different cars or nissan comes out with a more desirable model then the price will stay high. Demand dictates price, would you sell your $75k car for $45 if someone was willing to pay$65k. No of course not. You could get lucky but the general value will probably stay high. I will say this. If you start making the car payments now and put them in your own bank account and offer cash you will probably be able to get it for a few thousand less. I've done this for some things I want but don't want to pay the asking price.

so maybe you're able to save up enough money to buy a gtr in a few years... will you be able to afford $7400 brake jobs every 22k miles?

It's not that much. Where are you getting your information from? I've done a lot of research on the car since I'm really considering buying it.

THIS....Its not that hard to make a payment on 55k car, but the service and insurance really adds up. Plus there will be so many more cars to choose from by 2014-15....oh yeah and GTRs are ugly

That's very excessive. GT-R owners are doing pads, rotors, and fluids for waaaaaaayyyy less than that. Like I said I am doing the research because I'm actually going to probably purchase the car. The price of that brake job is obviously flawed. There is no documentation to back that price up. We don't know if he got new calipers or anything like that. Plus fluids don't even cost that much for the GT-R. Trust me I've covered my bases when it comes to maint...

GTR'S ARE NOT UGLY MY FRIEND ...I THINK THEY ARE EPIC...I think in the looks department the Z06 has nothing on the GTR...

Furthermore i will suppress my dream for a bit and try to revisit in a few years...ill be around.... plan to keep a Z around for a bit.

If you wanted a GT-R you would have bought one but instead got a 2009 Jaguar XF SC. So stop the cry-baby I cant afford it nonsense.

I'd bet it would depreciate faster than many of you guys think. Totally different car, I know, but take a Mercedes cls500- It was a ~70k+ car in 2006 but can easily be had for ~$28kish now with 50-60k miles. I don't think that's too bad considering these cars probably aren't flogged like a sports car commonly is.

Actually an electric sports car would be very fun to drive. The only thing that I like about gas engine is that you can tune them to get more power, I don't know about electrics.

Look at maintenance, relative costs, and reliability records of Mercedes vehicle.
