2009 gtr's will not be had under $50k until 2016.
this is driven primarily by parts cost. there are simply not
enough cars out there and production of parts is very high.
transmissions in 2016 will still cost $15k.
i've been doing way more legitimate research than most here.
have been ready to pull the trigger at $50k for awhile but those
cars just don't exist.

My opinion: If the GTR goes the way of the NSX, then the pricing will mirror the NSX.
Currently the newest NSXes (2002-2006) go for 60-80K.
1991-2001 will vary but follow a predictable price curve. Unusually low prices lead to these questions: (is it a snap ring failure? how was it maintained? has the water pump and timing chain been replaced?)
You can get a 1991-1994 NSX with 80K on it's engine, bad paint and the undesirable AUTO trans for under 20K. But that's a 15-20 yr old car
Solid 30's-40's for any of the 1995-2001's

I'll never understand buying a car and worrying about the value of it years down the road. Especially a car like this....thats meant to be driven. Last thing on my mind would be taking it easy. I would be making up reasons to drive it.

Then you forgot why cars like this are created....status symbols? Reasons to valet park...people always want to be in the "in crowd" so selling what was new for the new new is always a concern.

I would love to own a GTR one day but the cost of maintenance and repairs is very high dollar. I mean the transmission more than I paid for my Z.

If youre squeaking by to buy a 55k car.. believe that its not a BMW and the service is not included lol.. there will be associated costs that are above and beyond the cost to maintain a Z by a long shot from what I have seen so far.

It was created to be the baddest bang-for-buck supercaqr on the planet. It was meant to be driven hard. If status symbol were the reason,, they could have easily put the Infiniti badge on it. But they used Nissan. We can all agree the badging made it down-market a bit. Because it was made to be driven like you stole it.
All I know is this, if I could get one I wouldn't be concerned about mileage or value. I'd be coming up with a jillion excuses to go for a drive.
I'd return to hitting the turnpike every Sunday morning for a spirited run...like I did when I had a G35. I'd be mashing the gas every chance I got. I'd create u-turn opportunities just for the fun of it. I would have big fun.

Here's the joke... two years later.. if you get an 09 GT-R for 55k - it probably had an accident or needs the transmission changed out of warranty due to previous tuning!
Nissan just continuously increases the MSRP every year!
