Yes i did search to see if i could find anything but i found nothing as specific as the info i am looking for, so hear goes.....


I know there are alot of tires available for our 350Z, but i am looking at some different tires that are in the affordable category (as i know alot of us are) I kept with less than $250 per tire (at stock sizes) I am looking at replacing my Stock tires with 245/40/18 Front and 275/40/18 rear



Now i am trying to compare tires that are affordable yet have great performance. i am also looking at their traction ratings and longevity of the tire (based on the uniform tire quality grading) As we all know the Bridgestone Potenza's that come stock on the Z suck @$$ and are rated at 140 UTQG where as most of the ones i am comparing are 280 and better.





If you have any experience with these tires, or any others that are comparable in pricing/performance please post and let us know.

Very pleased with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. I run these tires at the dragstrip, autocross and HPDE. Never disappointed. Very competent in the rain.

I just put a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my Z a couple months ago, and I couldn't be happier with them. Excellent grip on both dry roads and in the pouring rain. Highly recommended.

Don't buy the tire by your poll results. Your poll makes sense to find which brand is popular, but it makes no sense at all in determining which tire to buy.
Things people want from their tire is just too different, and driving skills are even more different. One person might go to HPDE and drive slower, less demanding than another person drives on the street through a tight turn.
You should ask yourself first what you want most of the tire: clarify "performance". Everyone talks about performance and means something different. How much Gs have you felt in your fastest turn? Have you felt sidewall flex before or not? Have you gotten your tires to squeal or not? Depending on this you may have very different demands on performance than others.
Are you planning to track these tires or not?
If you drive average and don't track the tires, you can probably buy any of these tires and they are all going to feel mostly the same to you and you can just go with the cheapest or the one with highest treadwear rating.

Anyway good luck with the tires... If you are picky and know exactly what you are looking for, than I would buy the tires local, where you may be able to return them if not satisfactorily.

you should've put Kumho Ecsta MX or SPT instead of ASX just to be fair to compete against F1 GS-D3.

ASX is all season tire, not summer.

no i have not taken the Z to the track or the dragstrip. but i may get into AutoX soon if i can find some tracks down in Dallas. (no i do not drive average, but then again do any of us?)

On my Civic (yes i know FWD is totally different) i had Nitto 455's which were 205/50's i then replaced them with Yokohoma AES100's that were 195/50's which even tho they were 10mm skinnier there was a night and day difference in cornering. Yokohomas being A LOT better.

so i guess what i mean by performance is Grip. i dont like tires that break loose easy, like Nitto 455 or Bridgestone Potenza's


Has anyone driven on the BF Goodrich's? any luck with them? i have heard they are not the best grip in the rain.

what about the Pirelli's? they are rated to have Higher treadwear, which typically would mean harder rubber and less overall grip vs something softer.
The break in that rule would be the POS Potenza's that come stock, (rated at 140 treadwear)



Oh and the poll was just to see what people prefer. not saying i am using it to determine my purchase.

As pedroosan pointed out, it's a popularity Poll, not a "best" because "best" means different things to different people.

For me, the Michelin PS2s were the only choice for the street. Sticky in both wet and dry.

For AutoX, I plan on getting some Falken RT-615s. They are the #1 streetable tires as far as grip goes.

I wonder if you're really going to be able to find good tires in your price range. I'd bet you'll be more in the $750 to $1000 range.

I am currently running Dunlop SP9000's and am very happy with them, excellent grip. I have a friend who is running some BF KDW's and is happy with those as well but feels they do not grip as well.

I've been searching lately and would like to see some more opinions and experiences listed. Also, I'm looking to get a set for daily use that has good grip and cornering for street use.

I have been running the BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW NT for a couple of months now and have been very happy with them. Much more grip in wet and dry, better tread wear rating, and as an extra bonus they have much less road noise then the stock tires did. The sidewall on them is not quite as stiff as the stock ones (prob. contributes to the quiter ride) which means you can feel them flex a little under hard cornering, but well worth the extra grip.

Just to give you an idea how much better the grip is, I used to be able to break loose in 1st and 2nd gear in straight line acceleration with the stock tires pretty easily, but as long as I'm on good dry roads the car refuses to break loose on my new tires.

I would have gone with the Falken Azenis RT-615, but they don't have any sizes that will fit the stock rims and still maintain the stock height ratios which means it'll either effect the speedometer or it will cause the VDC to kick in more often.

Oh yeah, the thing that made the final decision was that I got all 4 of my tires at Costco including warranty, tax, installation, etc for a grand total of $650.00.

I have some stockers on my 350 but I am running some BFG KDW's on my 01 MB CL55 and absolutely love them. Great grip wet and dry and the tread is sick! Pretty decent price as well compared to your PS2.

Are those KDW's or KDW2's? When I priced new tires, the difference between the KDW2's and the PS2 were only about $300 for the set. The KDWs were significantly cheaper but didn't perform nearly as good as the PS2s and KDW2s.

Well I got the Falken FK 452 on 20" and I love them. Now that my car is in the shop for a FI install going to see how well they hold up.

Dunlop DZ101 are what I switched to (was using Yokohama AVS Sport)
I think the DZ101 are great for street and they work very well in wet conditions.
