LED Side-markers by Ares (REVIEW)
LED Side-markers by Ares
I received my Smoked LED Side-markers from Ares today. It was quite a surprise for I didn’t expect them until at least Monday.
Now if there is anything I like more than driving my Z it is working on my Z. It has been quite a weekend for that. Yesterday I had my hands-free Cell phone Kit installed and then I installed my Red "Samco Sport" radiator hoses myself.
Here an image of the Hoses:

The entire LED Side-marker install took me about 1 ½ hours from start to finish.
I started by putting the front-end up on jack-stands. This makes working on the car a lot easier.
Remove all of the plastic shield under the front end. There are several bolts and 3 of those snap rivets.
Next remove both Fender Protectors (Drive and Passenger) You only need to remove the front half of each one.

Driver Side:
Remove the two Philips head screws holding the side-marker in place.
Insert the new LED Side-marker and replace the 2 Philips screws.
Feed the 3 wires through the hole

Connect the Red wire coming from the front side (closest to the bumper) of the Side-marker to connect to the Green/White Stripe wire coming from the Parking Lamp.
Connect the Black wire form the side-marker to the Black wire on the Parking Lamp.
Then connect the remaining Red wire from the Side-markers to the Green/Black Stripe wire from the Blinker.

Passenger side:
Exactly the same as the Drivers side with one exception.
Due to the Window Washer Reservoir you must remove two more bolts.
In the TOP-FRONT of the wheel-well there are 2 bolts holding the corner of the fender on.
After these bolts are removed you can "gently" pull the bumper far enough forward to remove the Side-marker and insert the new one.

Now for the review:
The quality and workmanship of these is excellent. It is obvious that Brian is taking his time creating each set by hand.
Installation was exactly what I thought it would be “straight forward” and fairly easy. Anyone that can work a wrench, screwdriver and pair of pliers can do this.
And most of all, the price. Ares is charging a little less than a similar brand on the market. I would rather buy from a fellow Z-man than someone else plus I doubt they could match his workmanship.
Overall I give a BIG THUMBS-UP to ARES and would suggest anyone thinking about this mod to buy from him.

First off, thankyou for the positive review. glad you like them, they look great on your car.
the reflector does wreak havoc on the appearance, but I tested these to myself, but I was also connecting wires to battery, ect, so I may not have gotten such a good look at em.
but my own view they looked lined up, so Id imagine its the picture. different angles will result in different distortions from the reflector.
to be honest, I thought I put the connectors in there I bet if I look around Ill find the little baggy of them somewhere waiting to be put into the box. sorry about that, thats my fault.
I enclosed another photo, these are one in the same as the ones you see above. might give a better shot to show they are lined up, but the appearance is affected by reflector.

would there be any way to set it up as a solid string of light? I remember seeing a mod awhile back in a different forum that someone called 'angel eyes' or 'halo' effect that went around the headlight's bulb. The person used pretty much a solid clear pastic tube with a bunch of tiny slits that were placed in it (to reflect the light). It looked pretty decent when the headlights were off and those were on. It'd prolly be a lil bit easier also than putting a ton of LED's in that and just using 2 (one at each end) and slicing the tubes. Just an idea tho...and might look better too than all the dots of lights. Great idea tho! Love the smoked look. I'm gonna be interested in gettin these at somepoint...with smoked tails on my SB Touring

I haven't messed with the sidemarkers at all...and I'm not sure if its possible or not but on a new set of those is it impossible to snap/pry carefully the back plastic peice from the reflector itself to get the 1 (possibly 2) peices of optic fibre set in there? how about if you take the optic fibre (if its a thick peice of tubing and getting it sliced in half across the diameter and ruffing up the flat edge (instead of all the slices to give it a surface to reflect light and its on the bottom of it) and giving you more room cause its only half of the tubing? I remember it being thicker so it should be possible) Wish I'd be able to explain a lil better...
I guess air/moisture would be a problem in there also...but if your able to snap them apart, I'm sure glue would be able to seal it right back up? I dunno what would be easier bro...just tryin to toss up some ideas. I hope yah dun mind...
