MD- I can top that. Pun intended...
My 06 started with short tears along the rear side pieces. I did research and decided to go to Bass Pro Shop, Got some braided 35# fishing line. Sewed them carefully by hand, you could hardly tell. A few days later I noticed the tear opening again and thought the fish line tore. Nope. The line was fine, a new tear started 1/8" from the old one.
The material's just too old. Gonna order the E-Bay Haartz.

I have the exact same problem in the exact same place. This top is only 3 years old. AND it is the second one I have put on in 7 years. I took it to the dealer. They say it is a defect. REALLY bummed.

I've replaced an estimated 100 Tops on Z's and 90% had a hole on the rear bow above Rear Window Where the Seam around the window and the seam that goes up the Side has a hole in it.I've got one setting in my Shop now, waiting for top to come in

Sounds like you may have bent the 5th bow limit switch. Open the top so 5th bow is straight up. Look on frame driver side for a small switch. You need to bend it so it sticks out about 5mm and you hear a click when the rear is flush.
