Question Roadster weight

Will someone who owns a roadster please post the curb weight declared in the owners manual. I asked my local dealer and they act as stupid about the specs as when I bought my coupe from them, the old shrug of the shoulders and "I dunno". The Nissan site is all FU, sying you can get a track roadster, and that the coupe and roadster wigh the same. I can' believe Nissan hasn't gotten there web info straight after the misery of the 03 release. The roadster has got to weigh more than the coupe.

I believe they weigh in about 200 pounds heavier, but not much more than that.

EDIT - From MSN:

http://autos.msn.com/vip/specificati...=10889&src=vip

These are the Roadster's specs:

Enthusiast Roadster / Touring Roadster

Curb Weight - Automatic (lb.) 3445 / 3479

Curb Weight - Manual (lb.) 3428 / 3462

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the coupe's specs:

Coupe / Enthusiast Coupe / Performance Coupe / Touring Coupe / Track Coupe

Curb Weight - Automatic (lb.) No Data / 3210 / No Data / 3239 / No Data

Curb Weight - Manual (lb.) 3188 / 3197 / 3217 / 3247 / 3225

Don't mean to bump a 13 year old thread. But can anyone specify where exactly all the extra 200# is??

I know a good amount probably comes from the top and its inner workings.. But where in the "strengthened chassis" is the rest of the weight? Someone told me even the body panels are more rigid than coupe panels...

Figured I'd use the search and resurrect an old thread on the topic than create a new one and get slammed for not searching lol

Reinforcing the chassis so it can maintain rigidity or something along those lines im not too mechanical savvy but i know a lot of it has to do with reinforcing due to the loss of rigidity from losing a hard top and also the convertible mechanisms are not light either.

Yea I know that. What I'm curious about is where/what is exactly beefier or changed to make up for the rigidity.

Since I'm rebuilding a roaster i want to know where the weight and strength parts are so I can work on cutting out some of the weight but make sure don't delete or remove the rigid sections.

Do what Colin Chapman used to do with his Lotus cars. Start cutting pieces out until the chassis collapses, and then put the last piece back.

I guess that's what way to maximize and optimize chassis weight reduction
