Default Passenger Seat Pressure Sensor

Hi,

My Car shows the "passenger air bag" light on even when someone sits on the passenger seat. After multiple trips to the Nissan service center, they finally found out that the problem is with the pressure sensor that sits beneath the passenger seat. And they say that it has to be replaced entirely (cost estimate $3100.00). I do have an extended warranty from Fidelity but they say the warranty does not cover it. And they said, even if I would had purchased warranty from Nissan, it would not had covered it.

Do I have any alternatives to get this fixed? Can you please suggest?

Thanks,
Chanti

$3,100 for a sensor?
That's absurd!

there are always totaled vehicles being parted out and you might be able to get the whole seat with sensor for a lot less. just advertise on the want to buy thread and i'm sure there's a few members on here with seats they would like to get rid of.
