Default Plastidipped the roadster last weekend for the first time

First time doing it, some of the paint was peeling at 175k so this was my first attempt. I"m happy with it did have a few runs of clear. Will change the color again in the wintertime.

Total cost was 380 without the gun. 120 of that was pearls.

Wrapping was in the few thousands of dollars and I drive the car maybe once a week? Not trying to throw money into it just needed to cover up peeling paint and deep scratches.

Coulda always left it matte black since that only cost me 90

Looks really blotchy, I guess it's better than peeling paint. Learning and diy ftw.

Im sorry but i still think this is a waste of money. A good wrap is around 2k where im at. Op already wasted 400. Add another 400 that he plans to spend to redip it and thats 800. Its not a daily for him, so why not just save the money and get a good quality job instead?

But his car his money, im just giving my .02. Plastidip looks like crap to me. But thats just me. I would think someone who buys these car would like for them to look better than that.

Dip is temp, wrap last longer and more durable. At the end, wrap always beats dip. No excuses.

I painted a veedub with a Wagner back in the day, would have been great except I used too much hardener. Permanent orange peel fail.

You made it run which makes it look even worse. I would of kept it a matt color because, if done right, plasti-dip can look decent

I'm at 175k currently, even though the engine and tranny is in good shape why would I drop 2k for a wrap when I can just do a dip every 6-9 months to change the color and keep the paint from failing.

plastidip can last as long as wrap if you take care of it. I just dont plan to.

Not so sure on that, I've used both and quality wraps such as 3m or Avery is beyond comparison to the rubber dip.
