Default 350Z Roadster (looking for bass)

I have previously had 2 Alpine Type R 10 inch subs in the trunk which sounded great, I have gotten tired of them and I am looking to add a lot more bass to my car. I will be putting in 1 Orion Hcca 12 inch sub in the trunk, trying to find info on any pitfalls to this or any experience anyone has had in doing this (how many layers you used to kill the rattle etc).

I am initially looking at a custom ported box, the one real question I have is with the limited air space will a ported box even work all that well?
