Convertible Info
Spoke with 3 MN Nissan dealers today regarding the 350z convertible. 1 dealer had no information regarding the convertible while the other 2 had the same information.
Basically, the 2 Nissan dealers are taking $1,000 refundable deposits. You are then added to their inventory list for the convertible (both dealers said the car is to be in showrooms end of Feb / early March). Right now, they do not know if this will be a hard top or a rag top and they do not know which models might come with the convertible option. That information will be released to dealers in December/January. At that time, you are able to select your specs and sign a sales agreement and your $1,000 deposit becomes non-refundable..
Supposedly this information was just released to dealers this week.
Has anyone heard any differently?

The dealers I've talked to have no idea and no info on the ragtop.
They're doing what you just described... taking refundable deposits.
Quite frankly, a dealer could take a refundable deposit from you and promise you a 350ZR-TT and if the thing never materializes you get your money back... they're only insuring themselves against you shopping elsewhere by taking a "refundable deposit" (which is, legally speaking, an oxymoron).
