Default Left speakers going in and out. Need help/advice...

Folks,

It's been a long time since I've been on the forum so I trust everyone is doing well.

I've got a problem with my Bose stereo in my 2005 350Z and want to see if anyone else has had this experience. If I hit a bump, or make a quick turn, sometimes I lose audio to the left speakers. And I can travel over a bump again and it will come back. Or I can change discs in the cd changer and the left audio will return.

I'm guessing it's a loose connection. Anyone else have this happen and been able to fix it?

Thanks,

Bob in South Florida

I believe both. But to be honest, I pretty much only listen to CD's so I haven't noticed it on the radio in a while...

The Bose head unit is famous for this defect. I had mine swapped under warranty twice.

Mine still does it, and I can bang it (on the side of the console) and it will correct itself.

Just last week I got sick of the problem and ordered a Kenwood DDX 470 from Crutchfield. I do not have it yet. If you search on this forum in the radio area you will see that a lot of folks have gone this route.

JCat - thanks for the response and suggestion on a head unit. I'm actually surfing Crutchfield now for a replacement head unit.

Question - did you keep your Bose speakers and just replace the H-U? That is what I prefer to do and know that I need a H-U with preamp outputs and Crutchfield's wiring harness

I have not received it yet.

The folks in this thread claim that it is plug and play:
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...hlight=ddx+470

It comes with the appropriate wire harness that integrates it with the 350Z wiring, so I hope it is plug and play.

I purchased these items as well:

472LTN2USB Apple Lightning to USB cable
113KCIP202 Kenwood KCA-IP202
068USBPORT Retrosound USB-PORT

I also ordered the eBay backup camera. I think it was $15. It mounts in ONE OF the license plate light locations. (Backing up this vehicle is a pain)

JCat - thanks for the details on your stereo purchase. It will help me tremendously.

Question - Did you consider any JVC stereos along with the Kenwood? Asking because I see some JVC's with very similar features to the Kenwood's, but the JVC has a front AUX input...

No, I did not consider anything else.

Something to think about, I recently had my the headphone jack on my iPod replaced AND about a year ago I had Chrysler replace the head unit in my 300C because the AUX port wore out. These connections wear-out eventually.

Notice that I purchased the Retrosound USB port for the Kenwood receiver. If the connection wears-out, it will be a simple job to replace. If it were the head unit itself, then it would be more difficult.

Did not know this - thanks for the heads up.

Where are you planning to mount the Retrosound port?

I'm not sure where I'll put it yet.

The Retrosound port has both a USB and AUX jack, so I think I got everything covered. (I tested both and they both work fine)

Pulled the trigger last night on the Kenwood DDX471HD. Now just have to wait patiently...not.

JCat, and all, thanks for the advice!

The boot screen on my DDX470 actually shows "JVC-Kenwood", which seems to provide a reason for the similarities between the 2 brands.

There are actually some features which IMO were much better in my previous Kenwood DDX516, but overall, the sound between the DDX470 and DDX516 seems the same. I upgraded to the DDX470 for the built-in bluetooth, but much prefer the iTunes and SiriusXM controls on the DDX516.

In looking at the DDX470 and the now discontinued DDX516, it "appears" that the new DDX471HD that I ordered slots between the DDX470 and DDX516 in features..
