Default Aftermarket antenna reception quality

So I see the antenna question has been asked and answered alot here. What I can't find is the question of actual reception on aftermarket or other OEM antennas. I live out in the middle of nowhere, reception is iffy at best on most days for most of my drive.

Has anyone outside the city found a good antenna? My car had some aftermarket one already on it, and it's just not cutting it so I want to replace it. I'm wondering if I should get a stock antenna, another OEM shorty, or if there is an aftermarket one, that looks good and has equal or better reception to the stock one.

If you have an aftermarket radio, there is a good chance the antenna amp wasn't rewired for power.

+1 on SiriusXM, Pandora, etc. How can anyone listen to terrestrial radio anymore?
