LSD causing lower 0-60?
Doubt that it would add enough loss that it would show up in such a short sprint. If anything the Sport package should be a bit faster due to the wider tires

I would have thought LSD would provide additional traction.
when cornering yes, straight line? nada

Guess all those people selling diff spools for drag racers are just ripping them off
LSDs are always better then open diffs....having a one tire fire on take off = fail
Two contact patches working to put down power is always better than one...whether cornering or going straight
Diff lockup is different for various models and methods but a diff worth the money is going to help making launches easier and consistent as well as more effective
"By limiting the angular velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some traction available on at least one of the wheels."
The problem is Nissan has used a fluid diff (viscous) vs a mechanical unit. If they threw in an ATB diff I think we would be happier about the LSD at the drag strip but
"In contrast to the mechanical type, the limiting action (of a viscous diff) is much softer and more proportional to the slip, and so is easier to cope with for the average driver"
SO basically Nissan uses a viscous diff so that your avg joe wont spin himself into a tree....thus limiting its effect at the drag strip where it takes a little bit of heat to make the fluid lock enough to work on launch without overheating to the point of making the fluid "cook" or become completely useless
Make no mistake though....if your planning on a trip to the strip a proper LSD or spool will make a huge difference in consistent grade A launches.....can you still cut decent times with an open diff...sure...but getting lucky vs pulling off consistent launches will surface after enough passes
Practice makes perfect but all else being equal the larger contact patches of the sport will make times easier to attain and easier to modulate for traction at launch....getting the stupid viscous diff to work properly is another matter but its better than nothing
