How is it useless if it tells you if your oil is working or not?
let's see. new car, 1000 miles, really going to tell you a lot there because we are all chemical engineers and know what those results mean and don't mean.
point is, if you have the right amount, the right viscosity, and do regular changes on it your oil should be fine. you do not need an "analysis" to tell you if something is working or not. especially on a new engine.
now if he were to do this properly, he would have had the analysis done before he put any miles on it, then repeated it right before the first change. that will show if there is any change or not. waiting until you put 1000 miles on it is not telling you anything at all and like i said, a waste of money for a worthless test

Yeah, it's a new engine - I'm trying to get a sort of baseline to judge when it'll be fully broken in 5 or 10k mi down the road in which I'll be going synthetic afterwards.
Man... you guys do come down hard when people are just trying to share info. I thought I'd contribute to the forum because it's not like people get to see oil analysis on a new 370z everyday.
I gave this forum a benefit of the doubt, but its no wonder why people say this place has gone downhill. Get off my nuts... I'm out of this sh** hole.
I love when people get butt hurt when they don't see the responses they want to see.
I am sure people appreciate the thoughts and willingness to test and share results, but as said, it is kind of worthless to analyze it at this stage. the numbers look horrific, if people weren't aware it was a new engine they would probably think you were running vegetable oil or something.
I'm shocked at the haters. Thank you for taking the time and money to do the test, I hope to see further analysis down the road at different intervals, hear what kind of oil you used, ect.
Free info for me is great. Anyone who doesn't like it can get the flying fawk out and click up another thread. Simplicity.

Don't be so confident or so condescending. Ever heard of a baseline? You just stuck your foot in your mouth, boy.
What would be the point of doing an oil analysis with no miles on the car? To test to see if new oil comes in the bottle with metal debris?
To the OP, looks like the engine is experiencing usual break in. I would look for a decrease in the metal content by the next oil change.

wow, glad you cleared that up. if that was in the original post instead of the word "thoughts" and a picture your intentions might have been a bit more understandable.

If you took the time to read the STICKY: VQ Oil analysis and info, it explains what the different contaminants in used motor oil represent
I am curious to see what the numbers look like after a couple oil changes and a few thousand miles.
Do you plan on running different oils in this motor and doing an UOA on each to find the best one? I think that's valuable info that a lot of future 370z owners could use, hopefully others follow suit.

Fixed.
To the OP, thanks for posting up the results. Feel free to keep 'em coming.
Pay no mind to the noobish haters..
