100 dollars for 370 oil change-WTF

Yes the mechanics are "retarted"... *irony
Somtimes one tends to make it hard on themselves. Motor oil is just that. Nothing special about it; not rocket science.
The only reason motor oil is even used is to keep the moving mechanical components of an engine thuroughly lubricated for maximum performance and life. Due to the heat/speed and friction of engines, this is required.
Now for someone to tell you that you MUST put a certain type of oil in ANY engine short of ones being used in multi-million dollar aircrafts and spaceships, they are screwin with you.
Now if it call for a specific blend of compounds, you can try to match or use an equivelant. Im sorry, but different metals and motors, do not require different chemical structured lubes

the ester oil is not MANDATED to retain your warranty but you may get noise. You could make the case that the properties of the oil will allow the engine to run more effciently therefore ever-so-slightly affecting gas mileage and overall engine emissions (though probably negligible in both categories)
