im wondering if anyone has ever had good success with mending a carbon fiber piece with an epoxy such as j b weld or some other type?

for a structual repair you could use any type of 2 part epoxy (assuming its an epoxy part and not poly) with carbonfiber or fiberglass patches, for visual repair you could probaby get away with just brushing on epoxy unless the carbon is visually damaged.

Epoxy and hardener (2-part), mix in the required ratio or your bond will fail also be sure to thoroughly clean and degrease both sides of what you’re mending.
